Study confirms that Mediterranean men tend to have higher testosterone levels than American (Anglo) Men. "Dr. Demers and his colleagues have found evidence that testosterone levels and androgen precursor steroids may vary among different ethnic populations." "A study of Portuguese, American, and Asian men, for example, revealed that the average testosterone level in the Portuguese subjects was ~ 500, in Americans, ~ 450, and in the Asian population, ~ 400." "Larger differences were observed with the androgen precursor steroids like DHEA. Asian men generally have less facial and body hair than Americans, who generally have less than the Portuguese." www.arvadahealth.org/health_dept_details.cfm?id=957

From reading the article, it seems that the more body hair a guy has, the more testosterone their body produces.
Seems like basic Biology to me, as testosterone is what causes such things as body hair growth.

What if someone has strong hairiness at the second half of his body, arms etc. and few on the chest?

My family use to be pretty haired! Since I know the biggest testosterone levels belong to sub-saaran Africans and their descendands... But the article is pretty interesting. Unfortunally there are scientists arguing testosterone and criminality are correlated...

There are also studies that claim that white men from the southern USA have higher testosterone levels than white men from the northern USA.
BTW, why do men from Scandinavian countries dominate those "World's Strongest Man" contests?

BTW, why do men from Scandinavian countries dominate those "World's Strongest Man" contests? I believe that may be a combination of their naturally large, robust bone structures with 'pumped up' muscles.

But the article is pretty interesting. Unfortunally there are scientists arguing testosterone and criminality are correlated... Testosterone: The Good, the Bad, and the Contradictory By Lane Lenard, PhD "The health benefits of high testosterone suggested in this study confirm what has been seen in scores of other studies over the last 60 to 70 years, but the men's high risk behavior remains a bit of a puzzle." "They found that those men who had the highest levels of testosterone had a 45% lower risk of high blood pressure, a 72% lower risk of having a heart attack, and an 8% lower risk of having three or more colds a year. These men were also 45% less likely to rate their health as fair or poor. On the other hand, the men with high testosterone levels were 25% more likely to report injuries, 32% more likely to drink alcohol heavily (5 or more drinks per day), and 151% more likely to smoke tobacco. " www.testocreme.com/testo_article1.htmlHHmmm, is that why Greek men, like me, smoke so much??

I grow large amounts of hair, have abnormally low blood pressure (90 over 42) and pulse (59), and am resiliant, despite I always pull muscles/pop bones. I've never smoked and I don't drink, so the last two things I don't have to worry about. But ja, those other things match up with me fairly well.

Hmm... I seem to have a higher than average testosterone... since I easily gain muscle mass, have low blood pressure, I don't drink a lot , I don't smoke ( ok, a joint or two a year ;D ). I also rarely get sick/cold etc.
The weird thing is that I'm really not aggressive ( I wish I was more ) and my family members have hereditary heart problems.
I suppose that hi-testosterone guys report more injuries because they're much more physically active than the regular desk-jockey ;D

You should change the topic name into : Portuguese men have higher testosterone levels.
Just because Portuguese men have higher testosterone levels doesnt mean all southern-Europeans have that. Southern europeans are very diverse.
You cant compare an italian or bulgarian with a portuguese. All are different people.
Also in looks Southern-Europeans are very different. I can see the difference in looks between an Italian and a Portuguese from 10 miles away.
Portuguese people are much darker than Italians and Portuguese also look different when it comes to facial features. Besides looks also the behaviour of italians and Portuguese differs a lot.

Southern europeans are very diverse. I think it is safe to say that most Med. nationalities have higher testosterone levels than Northern Euros. This is actually observable. Mediterranean men exhibit more masculine behavior and tend to have more masculine features than Northern European or Asian men.

Now I know why we manage to keep brazil, even against enemies with 2-3 times the army size of the portuguese...

You know that you are only fuelling the Nordicist's claims about Southern Europeans particularly Portuguese and Greeks. Negroes have high testosterone, and Portuguese have high testosterone. Therefore Portuguese are negroes. That is how those deluded fools think.
