Seriously now- why are black people so obsessed with Egypt, ancient Egypt especially? Every racial forum has tons of Egypt threads that end up being the most used threads. It's simple, they want to be proud of something. There is some insecurity issues, and hang ups when it comes to history and certain peoples. Thing is, they want to hang on to Egypt but you CANNOT hold on to something that is not yours! Judging by some of the idiotic comments I read in this thread, logic is greatly lacking. To some Africa=Black SS. Well shit, I must be the largest eyed, largest dickED, hairest f*ckin Asian on the planet....get over it, EGYPT IS NOT BLACK AFRICAN

yes i know this site.. dude u can easily see that many egyptians espccially parents do not consider themselves black so if they were black then why would they have a problem with letting their kids marry african americans.. although its very sad that they are very racist however, there is a definite "us" adn "them" mentality meaning egyptians dont see themselves black.. period.. btw i know alot of egyptian girls who like african american men but its not just them apparently ALOT OF GIRLS prefer african american men..dont forget its probably befcause of pop culture etc..

What do you think about it shebaab? I'm not surprised about it at all. But what does this have to do with race? It's just popular culture, a lot of Egyptians, and any American youth, are attracted to the gangsta hip hop culture that is centered around African-Americans. What does having black friends have to do with race? Also, the fact that the families were upset about it and that the priest discouraged it clearly showed that most Egyptian-Americans consider themselves to be totally different from blacks. You're only proving my point Shenuda. Egyptians don't consider themselves black. If you're asking me my opinion on interrracial dating, I think the family members should allow the girl to date people from any race she wants. That said, I hope this infatuation between some Egyptian-American youth and hip hop culture is a passing phase. Same thing goes on with Hispanics, Filipinos, and ARab/Persian-Americans, its the "not quite whites" who develop infatuations with hip hop. I don't care what kind of music people like and who their friends are. It's not my business. My only worry is that as some young people marry to different cultures that are less successful than Egyptian-Americans, they will reverse the remarkable success that Egyptian-Americans have had in America. Furthermore, you already know I prefer intra-racial dating. Most of the marriage announcements in my church bulletin are between Egyptians and Egyptians, followed by Egyptians and other Middle Easterners, then, Egyptians and white Americans. You can also find a few Egyptian/black American marriages from time to time, but it's certainly not as plentiful. This might change with the rise of hip hop culture, but from what I've seen, it tends to be a passing phase, ending when people enter the working world.

I think that their offspring will be the first Afro-Americans who can claim the Ancient Egyptian civilisation ;D

Alexandrian, man ... the endogamy is a bullshit.
Read what your Bible says:
Colossians 3,11
If the Egyptian and the Afro-American are both christians what´s the problem then?

Usually its not a question of religion but a question of culture..the copts refuse not only black ppl but anyone else who is not familiar or similar in culture..fro ex. if a copt brought home a lebanese person its no problem because they are familiar with the culture and values and mentality.. where as an italian mite not be soo welcomed..its just that the more variables you have between you and ur partner the more likely there will be problems .. however.. there have been many egyptians who married black males or females and have worked so it really depends.. its a cultural thing not a religious thing..

Alexandrian, man ... the endogamy is a bullshit. Read what your Bible says: Colossians 3,11 If the Egyptian and the Afro-American are both christians what´s the problem then? A. Being Christian doesn't mean you act according to stricter Middle Eastern cultural traditions. African-Americans have completely different cultures, ideals, and traits than Egyptian-Americans, and Middle Easterners in general. There is no denying that. B. Race plays a factor. Everyone would at least prefer people to mix in intra-racially (within the Egyptian nation or Middle Eastern people would probably be most preferred by Egyptian-Americans, but they'd also be more likely to accept marriage with other Caucasians than with non-Caucasian races)

What about the fact that african-americans represent the largest and fastest-growing muslim population in the united states?
Really whats the difference? is there some sort of "racial culture" or pre-disposition or something? people are individuals first, they should be free to marry whomever they want. Phenotypical differences are irrelevant. The differences between so-called "races" are not significant anyway, chimpanzees have more diversity than us.
Alexandrian, you are truly obsessed with race. Wholly consumed by it. Race is an interesting topic, but people cross the boundaries all the time, it is constantly blurred. As fun as race is as a topic, it seems to serve a rather divisive and counter-productive agenda in the long run.
Chill dude. Take a break from the subject.

What about the fact that african-americans represent the largest and fastest-growing muslim population in the united states? That means nothing. I'm not Muslim, I'm Christian. I don't see how being Muslim makes one have better traditions.

I agree it is ridiculous to say African Americans or South Africans, West Africans, East Africans have claim to Egypt. Or that Egypt has claim to Africa. When most Egyptians only have a drop of African Blood in them. Most Egyptians are Middle Eastern back ground not African. So why would Africans anywhere claim A Country, or a people that is not even related to them. Why would they want to? I’m African. And its obvious that Egyptians have very few ties to Africa. First of all they have none or few African features or culture from any part of Africa. Straight hair and red brown skin. Please Egyptians are about as much African as Arabs are. That’s and clear argument. I don't go for the drop of black blood thing either. Having 10 percent of a culture in you does not make you of that race! ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)
