How come we never hear anything about Canada in England? Does nothing newsworthy happen there? If i compare it to Australia (similar size country) we get lots of news about Australia, Australian soaps on our tv, Australian TV presenters. I couldn't even name the Canadian prime minister

1. We don't have an inferiority complex; never did. We're just suspicious of America.
2. Australians are a combination of the worst of British with some ugly American flavouring. Their love-hate relationship with Britain, racism, chauvinism, American-style tourists, and funny British-like accents are newsworthy.
3. Canada seems on the surface to be one of the quietest and most stable countries in the world; not much international news comes out of those countries - the Nordic countries are similar.

Do you Canadians feel its an advantage having a neighbour such as US or do you feel marginalized with them next door?

Never been there but i like Australia/Australians. If i was going to emigrate somewhere it'd probably be there, seems just like Britain but hotter Surely Canada is more similar to America though? Another question: do most Canadians want to keep the monarchy or do they want to become a republic?

1. We don't have an inferiority complex; never did. We're just suspicious of America. I guess that's typical of nations bordering each other. I think I can speak for all Americans when I say that we have mixed feelings towards our northern neighbors. From your nation's loins came "Kids in the Hall." - which is good. But from the other testical came the band "Loverboy." - which is very bad.

Not from Toronto. Van City. As for having the United States as a neighbour, it's probably more beneficial than negative. We're certainly not marginalized, we have more of a say in the world than many other nations with 30 millions. We're always requested as peacekeepers (which we started after Pearson created the UN Expeditionary Force*). We're seen as the most progressive and least racist country of all the West, as multicultural, law abiding, full of opportunity, and just.

1. Canada's going to win. And if we don't, then Canada will win in the universe parallel to ours where things are just and fair...
2. I use FIDO. It depends. Up here you can get a MotoRAZR for $200 with a one-year FIDO plan @ $30/mo. Not bad...
