What do you want out of an IDEOLOGY?
I want an ideology that would make people at least try to think with their own heads. I want peace and prosperity, but not on the account of nature, I want less hate, more knowledge. I want an ideology that strives to gather and create generations of men who demand justice.

Im far more simple, I just want government (and the voters and unwanted people) to stay out of other peoples business. SOmeone can do whatever they want in their personal life as long as hurts no one else

easy enough. Will be long wish list of my reforms
Free trade everywhere with everyone
Total and unequivical gov't allegiance to the Bill of Rights
No censorship or censor requirements of gov't media and they may not impose on private companies
no taxpayer funding for things that dont directly benefit the taxpayer
totally open borders
no military meddling with foreign ountries unless under defense
no draft ever
no affirmative action
repeal of the ban on assault weapons (or any other)
all comunities can decide via vote what to do with money, ofr example, if its a poor place they can vote thier county to become communist, as long as no one else has to pay/be inviolved in it
no religion on govt at all
mandatory death sentances for child molesters (this isnt really my ideology but Id like it anyway)
reinstatement of gov't held property in former Native American territory to the tribes in that area
Immediate disbanding of the ATF
cut off all foreign aid, or only give it to countries that use it for what its intended to be used for, i would especially cut off aid to Israel and other countries in "that area" and China, who uses US aid to build an army that trains for a war with America

oh I almost forgot the most important one!
disband the drug war! waste of money, fills prison, etc, murderers and rapists get lighter sentances just to fit more harmless druggies in there

I'm not a big fan of ideology. I've had arguments on wherther or not it's possible to not have an ideology, and then it ofcourse comes down on to the very definition of ideology.
But generally, one principle seldom works in all situations. I'm very interested in ideologies though, and I've read my share on the subject, and I think different ideologies pose different mechanisms on how to cope with different situations.

Well, instead of ideology I would emphasize the use of fronesis as the ancient Greeks put it. Evaluating the realities of each situation with the knowledge and skills you already possess, and trying to come up with wise decision that suits the occasion.

From experience I've learned that it takes an intelligent and experienced person to deal with reality in such a way. I doubt that a full 1% out of the entire population of earth has such capabilities. Ideologies are crafted for a general populous. |
