Not a WASP, yet not ridiculously over the top dark.

Very brunette in skin tone like many mediterranean peoples are. A real breath of fresh air in comparison to the portrayals that make the Judeans look like blond surfers.

Its a greek orthodox painting. I think they nailed it.

I definitely agree here. WASP depictions of Jesus are way too European and that famous reconstructed appearance of a typical Jew during Jesus's time is way too thuggish-looking. I definitely think if there was ever an accurate depiction of Jesus, it would be the standard longfaced, lithe Byzantine version with black to blackish-brown hair. Jim Caviezel I thought actually made a very convincing Jesus. Excellent piece of casting.

Caviezel is definitely the most convincing depiction of Christ I've ever seen on the big or small screen.

Heh heh, no matter what race or pigmentation the artist gives him, Jesus always has the characteristic sad eyes, long face, and long hair.

This is exactly what I mean. A lot of Ashkenazis look like Arabs.

Sure enough do and I suppose that's not really surprising. Cause even though Ashkenazis are basically are half-European and only half-Middle Eastern for the most part, Near Eastern Mediterranean and Orientalid elements still stick out many times.

Oded Fehr sure does. I bet that Jesus would have looked like him, except less sinister looking (something about Oded Fehr's eyes and eyebrows makes him look somewhat sinister to me).

Oded is probably representative of the handsomest Middle Eastern type. It's amazing that he is really just an Ashkenazi when he looks so much like an Oriental Jew.



How would you all classify him? Is he more Mediterranean than Orientalid? Both types are present in the Levant and especially Israel though I have a hard time telling them apart sometimes because of lack of experience.
