Do you think there was technologically advanced civilization before the Ice Age? Atlantis, Lemuria...?

Since there is not even indications of possible evidence and less so any traces or vestiges, I don't speculate on the issue. Where would you start to look into?

I'm not an expert on it or anything, and have never really read anything on it, but I've never believed any of that Atlantis stuff.
I personally just don't think that there was ever a modern civilization before what we have now.

You stupid little small-minded people (some of you), our "civilisation" is supposed to be about some tens of thousands of years old.
In the billions of years that the Earth exists only a clear idiot or a pathological egoist would believe that the only civilisation that ever existed is us!
Stupid little modern "civilised" humans!

We cannot forget that there is written record by Plato, though this record is not a first hand experience but the account of some story told to him by someone who learned it from an Egyptian priest and that dates back to some 9,000 years before Plato. I'm not suggesting taking Plato's words as a possible absolute truth, but to suspect that something existed, even if it was nothing like what Plato suggests. What do you understand by modern? Who do your refer to with "... what we have now"? Have you ever heard of Rome, Macedonia, Athens, Babylone, Persia, Egypt, ... China?

Satyros --
Dude, you don't feel strongly about this do you? lol
Do you realize that their are hundreds, maybe even thousands of PhD'd scientists out there in the world, who do not even believe in Evolution, with probably anywhere from 1/3rd to 2/3rds of them also not believing that the earth is billions of years old, but less than a million, in fact, closer to 10,000 years old, than to a million???
There are what are called Creation Science Organizations(or called something else, but basically the same thing) all over the world, in most or all of the larger or major countries of the world, and they require their members to have a PhD in a feild of scientific study. These people didn't get their PhDs at some backwater little podunk online university either, I've read of ones with degrees Cal-Berkeley, the University of Minnesota, the University of Oklahoma, just to name a few. Some of them held high ranking positions in their feilds of science. Yet these men of science, believe that the world is either not as old as most scientists say it is, or they just don't believe in the Theory of Evolution.
Would you lash out at them and call them small minded, and idiots as you have those who simply do not believe in Atlantis, or that earth has ever experienced a highly technological society as today's society is considered?!
I don't think society's such as Rome, China, or Aztex, etc. each one of many that reached a certain degree of civilization, count as being highly technological society's.
I don't think civilized was the only criteria, but if it was, then yes, there have been MANY civilizations before our present one, in my opinion.
As for Atlantis and any other theories about highly technologically advanced society's, I tend to think that the theory of how ALL Myths contain at least small amount of truth, is accurate, in that the myth of Atlantis, AS A WHOLE, may not be true, but something in the past led to the myth of Atlantis.
On example would be the society spoken of in the Hebrew Scriptures in the early chapters of Genesis before the flood. IF such a society existed, meaning, IF the scriptures are a true account of history, then the sons of Noah would likely have remembered and told their offspring of the days of their youth, and likely would have looked back upon those days with nostalgia, seeing as things would have been very rough after the flood, and so as the stories got passed on, they could have developed into the myths of Atlantis and Lemuria, etc..
Just a thought? I personally have not come to grips with what the scriptures say, whether to believe what they say in full or not, so I am not about to spend time worrying about whether Atlantis ever existed or not, except for fun.

Dear Religion Researcher, I believe in your absolute right of free speech ( with reasonable limits ), however ridiculous your claims may be. I view the creationist theory you try to push here as a load of shi... err.. shimmering nonsense and your feeble attempts at manipulation are also quite transparent. Darwin's theory of evolution probably is outdated, but those who discard it don't automatically adopt Creationism, they adopt some other, more advanced SCIENTIFIC THOERIES. You make it sound like most scientists agree that God created the world less than 10.000 years ago, all life that inhabits it as evolution-less and frozen in it's present state, litterally, Adam and Eve, literaly and of course, the most ridiculous that God planted fossils all around ( to fool us ). I'm sure you have no idea how ridiculous it all sounds, and, hey, I'm OK with that, but there is also a very sad fact that promoting this creationist nonsense and the accompanying litteral comprehension of the bible IS MAKING MORE PEOPLE REJECT THE BIBLE and RELIGION COMPLETELY....... you're shooting yourself in the foot here ( which is OK by me ), but you're also discouraging spirituality and belief ( which is NOT OK by me ). The holy scriptures are there for you to point you in a right direction, not for you to follow them like a DVD player MANUAL, and certainly NOT like a puzzle ( that you think contains the recipe for eternal happiness and everything else ). If there is a God, you're disrespecting him with your idolizing of pieces of paper and disregarding the REAL canvas on which HE wrote HIS WORDS... you're disregarding and disrespecting NATURE and the messages HE has weaved into the laws of NATURE.

Thanks for taking the time to trying and insult me asshole. I don't believe in creation at all. I and do believe that the earth is older then 10,000 years (ALOT older). All I'm saying is that I don't think there was ever a place like Atlantis where there was humans that had a civilization that was anything like what we have today. As I stated, I'm not an expert on it or anything like that, and I actually am not even really that interested in it, but from what I have heard they we're pretty damn advanced. I personally believe that if ever such a civilization existed they would have been able to have left SOMETHING behind. What are you getting so hot and bothered about??? I also don't believe in Big Foot, you got a problem with that as well???

Listen here afro, i will explain why i was bothered, just in case you think of me as an Atlantis fanatic.
I m bothered because just in a few hundreds of years, man has reached the point where nature is polluted beyond the point of no return. Do you understand that?
But nobody really cares, because hey, what is pollution in front of our "progress", in front of our "evolution", in front of our "great" modern "civilisation". When it is actually only about our greed.
Do you comprehend what i am trying to say? If man was taught and was conscious of the fact that he is just passing by this earth like other known and unknown species in the millions or billions of years that the earth exists, then man would have more respect for his natural home.
Religionresearcher, the end of the world like christianity teaches it, if not taken symbolically, then it actually promotes destruction of the earth, as people think that "The End is Coming"...
And of course not many people are searching the Bible to take it symbolically, so what the hell, if we re all going to Hell/Heaven, who cares about the earth, about the generations to come, about the environment?
As for Atlantis and Lemuria, we ll never know, or is there a way to know?

I personally have not come to grips with what the scriptures say, whether to believe what they say in full or not, so I am not about to spend time worrying about whether Atlantis ever existed or not, except for fun. This reminds me of something I read in the papers years ago. During the Dinomania that followed Jurassic Park, some extreme rabbis condemned the sale of yogurts for children with dinosaur pictures on them. The world has only existed for 7,000 years according to the scriptures, they said, therefore the dinosaurs never existed. Are serious you do not know whether to take the scriptures literally or not? Are you a Christian? Cause if you take the Gospel literally then you are a cannibal.
