The Irish are not "Celts",their Gaels, like the Welsh,Scotish and Manx.
The Galatians(from Asia Minor) where a mix of immigrant Gauls making their way east into Anatolia and Greek peoples.
As with the name Celt ,the origin of the name Gaul as its roots in latin/Greek. Galli is derived from the Latin word for rooster. Its also the name of Phyrgian river named Gallus, which meant eunuch. Also the castrasted followers of the Phrygian goddess Cybele, where called by the Romans "Galli".
And what i think Droop is trying to say is this: The term "Milesian" is an artificial English one, based on the name of the supposed ancestor, Míl. Any similarity to the name "Milesians" as applied to the ancient Greeks of Miletus is coincidental.
Thats why its so confusing cause the modern historians screwing things up.

The Welsh are Brythons (speakers of Brythonic Celtic), not Gaels (Goidelic Celtic speakers). The Manx were originally Brythonic speakers too, until Irish tribes established dominion over them, whereupon they became Gaelic speakers
That would agree with histical records as well as St Jerome's account of the Galatians.
Merely speculative. also, let's not forget that the Celts were propelled next to the Phrygians on their eastwards migrations from Central Europe where they quickly established dominance over nearby tribes.
The name is found amongst medieval Irish texts. It is not an "English" name.
The problem comes from people subjectively interpretating data instead of keeping to the facts and being strictly objective, even if that means a definitive conclusion can't be made

Their Gaelic as I said...Celtic are not British or Irish, its a bad and mis-used unbrella term!
The Eastern Gauls never "Achieved Dominance",your using bad words. They did a few raids and settled into Galatia. They where a mixed people as I said,gauls/greeks,a more accurate term for them is Gallo-Greacians.
The Macedonian/Greek General Attalus held them in check. After a few years they where crushed, and there fate is unknown..Either they where wiped out and enslaved, broken up and fled back west.Or the remaining ones assimilated and melted into the local populations.
<<Merely speculative>>
No it is not, thats where it comes from!
