Unlike popular believes that jet proplulsion was invention of Germans,we can see that idea of jet airplane was actually created by Henry Coanda-Romanian,and later this idea was considered among various nations. One of these nation was Italy. In 1931 Secondo Campini,Italian engeneer had patented jet engine,4 years before Pabst von Ohain, inventor of German jet engine. Italian 'Regia Aeronautica' has supported his idea of jet airplane and agreed with creation of two jet airplanes in 1934. Manufacturer was Gianni Caproni, constructer and owner of 'Caproni airplanes'. Construction has began immediately, but construction was delayed becouse of the costs.First prototype was created in 1940. Name of the plane was Caproni-Campini. Becouse of delay, first modern jet plane was German Heinkel He-178.,based on Von Ohain's jet engine, flewn in 1939. Caproni-Campini plane used Alfa Romeo Asso L-121 engine, based on Campini's ideas. I thought the popular belief was that Sir Frank Whittle invented the jet engine, he patented the basic design in 1930, but the RAF wasn't intrested.
