The author of this thread is totally ignorant of Dravidian civilisation. Some of the greatest empires in the world are of Dravidian origin - Chola, Vijayanagar. The Khmer and Indonesian Hindu empires are also sort of Dravidian.
India's downfall came about not because of "mixing" of races but because of Islamic invasions.
While Islam was running riot in the north, the Dravidians safeguarded Indian culture in the south. In fact the first organised Hindu revolt against Islam came from the Dravidians through the Vijayanagar empire.
Harihar Sangama the founder of the Vijayanagar empire is also in a way the founder of the Hindutva movement.
Even today, the most advanced and progressive state in India is Tamil Nadu in the Dravidian heartland.

I would say the downfall was caused by the bloody British... Not really. India was already decaying under the Mughals by the time the British made their way here. India was a massive economy till around 1800 because labour was the all-important factor of production at that time. And India had lots of it. But the industrial revolution overturned this advantage. So even without the British, India would have faced trouble, if we had missed the mechanization drive.

India was very wealthy under the Mughals..muslims or not That's like saying that Albania is a rich country, when Bill Gates visits there. Mughals had great wealth, but 99% of the people lived in poverty.

India was very wealthy under the Mughals..muslims or not India had a very large population involved in the textile industry, which brought in lots of money. Besides, there was exports of other commodities like spices, foodgrains, etc. India wasn't that wealthy. I read somewhere that India had around 22% of the world's GDP. Considering that the Indian subcontinent probably had nearly 20% of the population, the percapita income must have been only marginally higher than the world average. By the time the Britsh left, India's share in world GDP had fallen to 2.5%. The British should certainly be blamed for this. But one should also remember that during this time the Americas had grown rapidly. So India's share was bound to fall anyway. Incidentally, the Nehru family reduced India's share further to 0.4% by 1990. Now it has climbed back to 1%. And in PPP terms it is closer to 5%. So we are now on the comeback trail. Anyway, returning to the Mughals, by destroying India's scientific culture, Islam allowed the west to overtake India in technology. The Mughals were terrible rulers, especially that Aurangzeb guy. India's richest states during the 2nd millenium were both Hindu states - Vijayanagar and Chola. The Vijayanagar empire's economic performance was truly remarkable, since it was a military state. It was a state born for war - to rescue Hinduism from the Islamic onslaught. Yet it's rulers were very good in trade.
