Was it fought because of "freedom from oppression" or "freedom to put the tax payer's money into our own pockets and not give it to the Queen of England"?

Wouldn't you say that most, if not all wars are started out of purely economical reasons In any case, I hope the guys from www.AllEmpires.com see this thread, if they do, you're bound to get a thorough answer and a couple of reeeeeel educated opinions.

I've seen the first 20 or so minutes of 'Patriot' until my suspension of disbelief gave up. Compared to that film, Star Wars looks like a docummentary

Like most wars there were obvious economic reasons behind the revolution
that was why merchants supported it. However, the "lower" classes supported it because they wanted more rights, this is the reason why so many very young people and woodsmen types volunteered to fight.
depsite the economic issues this revoltution and the government that came after it was the final child of the enlightenment
No matter the cause, the constitution was worth it for me, the sadness is this constitution is now being warred upon by idealogoues who call themselves liberals and conservatives, both of which Im sure the founding fathers would have hated

Whenever I talk about the "Enlightenment" I always use quotation marks to let it be known that this is a propagandistic term used by 18th Century liberals. I remember telling a professor once, "Ever since the "Enlightenment" it's been all downhill..." Any man who wants to keep his sanity will live in a nation untouched by the "Enlightenment". For me, personally, if I can remain sane for a few more years, I'll be retiring in Bulgaria...

It was fought to break free from the Jews who were running the banking system in England. It failed! at this time there were alot of Jews In the US already, and I dont think you could find a single document written by the founding fathers saying this was the cause. Surely the bank of England was evil, but at this time it was run by people probably as anti-semetic as yourself in all probabilty. ALexander Hamilton was an ingenious banker, and modeled our bank after sucessful European models, was he a jew?
