I wish to congratulate Dienekes on his excellent idea, which is now coming into fruition, of creating this forum where sane Mediterraneans and others can engage in serious debate.

Nice to have a new member. You are absolutely correct: we need more "sane" forums. A lot of the forums out there are dominated by idiots -- like those which have ~70% of contributors claiming they have an IQ above 130 (I won't name names) in a poll.  -Galvez |

People who really do have IQs above 130 are probably not wasting their time on internet forums boasting about how high their IQ is. In fact, I think anyone who feels the need to crow about his (real or imagined) high IQ on the internet probably has a grave personality flaw.

Actually, depending on the scale used for measuring IQ, the 130 IQ isn't enough to accept you as a member of mensa.
I wonder what scale are you speaking about.
In any case, the bell curve for IQ cannot be used for discussion boards because of a couple implications.
1. The lowest IQ people probably cannot use internet.
2. The low-mediocre IQ people aren't very interested in the issues we discuss here.
This leaves us with pretty intelligent posters, so, it wouldn't strike me as odd if the majority of members here had high IQ.
