It's too early to say. We should know this kind of stuff within the next few years I'd imagine. But I can tell you right now that in terms of Y-chromosomes Poland is a very homogenous place. There's very little difference between north, south, east and west. In this case we should look for the mtDNA too. Well, mtDNA seems to be pretty much similar all over Poland, all over Russia, and in fact, all over the north European plain...whether we're looking at Germanic, Balic or Slavic populations. I would assume that the Scythian mtDNA in Europe would also be similar to this. I should also mention that southern Poland has the most R1a1 in the country...Krakow has 64% and Lublin 62%. Most of Poland has between 50 and 60%. The STR found in the Scythian skeleton was most probably R1a1...hence the close match to modern Poles and Russians. I can't wait for more studies to be done on these ancient skeletons. A lot of issues will be cleared up that's for sure.

Early Y-chromosome tests tell us that Scythians were most closely related to modern Poles and Russians...then to western Europeans. As you can see some people even claim that iranian and slavic tribes lived in a sort of symbiosis.
