I'd say more Mongoloid, since they look very different from Australian Aborigines.

Its hard to say,I always thouht they where more a race on to themselves sorta like the Amerindian-Asiatic Hawaiian natives .
But with some of those photos its again hard to tell, cause i think some may of had white, asian or even black admixture in them going back to the colonial or even recent times, theirs no way of telling.
Has their been an genetic testing on them?

they are remarkably similar to some south native americans.
ive read polynesians most frequent mtdna haplogroup is B, which is also found in south east asian, even china, and in the americas too.
mtdna haplogroup B is as often as 95% amongst polynesians. among guarani amerindians in paraguay the frequency is around 80%.
they are believed to have come to the america continent following the sea coast by coast, or from island to island, supposedly of course. reasonable supposition by the way.

I think polynesians favor the mongloid ancestry more there quite intermediate however the interesting thing about them is their exceptional hypertrophy, I wonder what the adaptive significance of it is. I would also love to see how well some of these guys could do as olympic weightlifters.

They strike me as a very handsome group of people. I like the face paintings, very dramatic and exotic. But what's with the tongues?

Very few man can make me feel runtish but when I visited some of the native hawaian towns on maui I felt quite small. They were similar to my height but seemed twice as broad. American samoans actually are signficantly more likely to end up as proffesional football players then black americans on per capita basis.

polynesians, melanesyans, pacific islanders have the highest incidence of mtdna haplogroup B (95%), which is common too among south east asians (especially, where it is thought to have originated), chinese (20%, or 1 out of 5, which in the case of China leave us with a big number), and amerindians (all over america amerindians, especially southwestern northern americans, navajo, some andinian tribes, and guarani tribes from paraguay, where haplogroup B comes to a height of 80%). so definetely theres a kinship among all these people sure. mongoloids, paleo mongoloids, proto mongoloids, whatever. according to some modern theories on the spread of haplogroup B it originated in southeast asia then spread to polynesia and along the pacific coast (or even from pacific islands) to the american continent. theyre strikingly similar to many southern american native tribes!
