its interesting how all the meds are very happy to self-deprecate themselves on this issue (unlike so many others). at least its a start, i might even get you admitting to some of the pernicious effects of catholicism soon... ;D

its interesting that unlike in latin, all the current latin languages have also basically ended the changing noun endings thing (ive forgotten the exact technical term. german is now the closest to latin in that respect! in fact the germans study latin in school. was this because they all had celtic languages before the romans arrived? Possibly? I read somewhere that based on recent analysis, German can best be described as having arose from a Baltic substrate and a Celtic overlay. So even Germanic languages show some Celtic etymology. It's funny that Germans describe themselves as "Deutsche", when that word comes from Gaelic "Tuath" or "Teuta", which means people; such as the early Irish invaders the "Tuath de Danann" - the People of Dan.

A lil off topic but...You guys are all wrong the best "latin" lovers are not even latin. ;D Hungarians shag the most (which is true they are very open to casual sex) and are the best lovers (horny devils). Italians (& other latins) are all talk little action. ... I agree about the Hungarians, as I have met a few here and they have a very healthy attitude to sex - "the more the better". BTW, a friend of mine from Serbia told me that he and all his Serbian male friends had lost their virginity to ethnic Hungarian girls - mostly from Vojvodina district of Serbia. Plus as many of you may know, the porn industry seems to have moved to Budapest, Hungary.

Yeah i know the Italian Porn industry has moved to Budapest, like Rocco S. moved there it's easier to make movies but a lot of the porn stars (the women) come from other E.European countries, i think they are trying to do is turn Budapest into another Amsterdam without the cakes. But it's all to do with culture there is no tabù when it comes to sex. The japanese are similar except i've heard japanese have casual sex with friends (opposite sex offcourse).

It's known as noun declension or inflection. It's a pretty common feature in Indo-European languages, though with varying degrees of complexity. Proto-Indo-European is believed to have 8 cases, along with Sanskrit. German (less so than others, actually), Icelandic, Faroese and I believe Baltic and Slavic languages do too, with varying numbers of cases. Romance languages descended from Vulgar Latin lost it; most tended to speak only in the accusative (which, if I recall correctly, gives you an -o ending from a -us nominative. Hence, Julius > Julio, etc.). Romanian still has it. I believe the English switch to word order came via French, not via Celtic, because Old English and early Middle English were still inflected. Surely, Celtic influence (brythonic, at least) was stronger during the early days than in the Norman days. All the continental Scandinavian languages lost it around the same time, too.

It has been claimed that the variation in pronunciation between Low and High German is to do with the way the Celtic speakers of Southern Germany adopted the Germanic dialects.
There was a long period of linguistic pluralism. The Usipetes were a "Germanic" tribe on the middle Rhine, but their name is Celtic and meant "The Good Horsemen."

you make them sound like aliens. i mean just because the burst into laughter for no particular reason doesnt mean theyre not humans.
and sorry to break this to you catozzo, japan is not one big hippy commune. the girls are like anywhere else, they want to be wined and dined, see the size of your wallet and then bob's your uncle....

I like Japanese people they are very calm and friendly but Japanese humour is something else i still don't get it but they are funny because they have a wacky sense of humour and it cracks me up watching them in a group. All girls should be wined and dined, open minded women does not = to being slutty. There's a huge difference between the two.

I am talkign about someone that whike I was speaking to him, he would make Bruce Lee sounds (without shouting, he would make a "Wuahhh" and a "Yeohhhh", like as if he was "sighing") . And no, I am not joking. Different culture. I suspect that we were as weird to him as he was to us.

I suspect that we were as weird to him as he was to us. ive travelled so much that i usually end up trying to spot the similarities. but my younger sister just went to africa and south east asia for the first time and said that african culture was much more similar to our own. i dont know if that is because blacks have had such an influence on our own culture or what.
