Hey Awar, I agree with most things you post on forums, you are objective and have a lot of knowledge, but there is one thing I strongly disagree with : If you tell me that Croatians and Serbs have greek, thracian or illyrian ancestry instead of slavic ancestry I would believe you. But iranian ancestry? That sounds like science fiction to me. When you look at people from Iran and Yugoslavia (Croatia, Serbia etc) they have absolutely nothing in common with eachother. Most Iranians look like arabs, while Yugoslavians are just white Europeans. Its the same as saying Norwegians are predominant of Nigerian ancestry, it doesnt make sense to me personally. ? Graeme and Melnorme explained it already.

Thank you, Melnorme.
Executiona9, the Serbs and Croats themselves, among other Slavs, have an ancient link to Scythians & Sarmatians (Iranian tribes who remained on the ancestral steppes and subsequently made a tour de force of Europe, Asia & N Africa; I have explained this ad infinitum on this forum.) The words "Serb" & "Croat" themselves are of Iranic origin.
AWAR, thanks for the info. If you have any more (e.g. genetic, etc.), I would greatly appreciate your sharing with me. The Slavic-Sarmatian connection has been my burning passion the past year.

Dean, the Kurgans have a connection to Scythians, albeit by a couple thousand years. The Kurgans were Indo-Europeans (Caucasoids) who, according to the late great Marija Gimbutas, spread to the Balkans and other areas of Europe very early in the IE diaspora. The Scythians were descendants of a branch of these Kurgans.
BTW, the girl is White & she is beautiful. If you could search her ancestry over the past 2000 years and find something else, I wouldn't care.

From what I've read from various sources, I understand that the original Bulgars were an Ugric tribe akin to the Magyars. (originally they were purported to be a Turkic tribe, but that has been discounted by more recent findings).
The Bulgars became the ruling class, but the far more numerous Slavs (who had already slavicized the Thracians) assimilated them.
