Here’s a brief description and a good map of the Amerindian races according to the Argentinean anthropologist José Imbelloni. I’ve not translated all the text but I’ll do within the next days.
I put the Spanish terms in brackets so you can locate them in the map.

• Sub-articoids[Subártidos]:They have a mean stature of 158 cm to 164 cm. These people, highly related to the Siberian populations, have a chubby yet strong body. The limbs are short. They show a tendency to dolichocephalism(CI of 75 to 76) even though there are isolated meso and even brachycephalic spots in Alaska. There’s a very big incidence of individuals with inner epicanthic fold. The Mongolian spot is not uncommon either.
• Columbidoids[Colúmbidos]: These tall Amerindians have a mean stature of 161 cm to 170 cm. Their cephalic index range from 84 to 90. The legs are long while the arms short in comparison. The torso is broad a nd short. The Pigmentation is relatively light.
• Planidoids[Plánidos]: They have a mean stature of 166 cm to 176 cm. They are mesocephalic(CI of 79.3 to 81.5). These Amerindians show higher noticeable sexual dimorphism than other American populations. Their cheekbones are high and their chin prominent. Square jaws and convex nose are common among the males. Their skin color is within a medium scale among Amerindians, although they can acquire a reddish tone due to sun exposure. They are the so called “Red Skins”.
• Sonoridoids[Sonóridos]: They are somewhat tall(166 cm to 170 cm). Mesocephalism is the rule (CI of 78 to 80). Their general features are softer and rounder than Planidoids’. Their noses are small and the forehead is generally slopped. Their features are somewhat phoetilicized according to some authors. The skin color is much darker that the sub-races we’ve already discussed.
• Apalacidoids[Apalácidos]: They have a mean stature of 173 cm. They are very dolichocephalic (CI of 71) athough individual cases can be as high as 79.9 due to sub-racial mixing with other Amerindians in the South and North. Unlike other Native Americans they almost never have high cheekbones, which give them a pseudo Caucasoid look. Their facial index is very high and the forehead is almost always slopped. The torso is leess developed but that and their long legs give them an agile appearance. They were the first Amerindians to be in touch with the English Settlers.
Although it’s been rather criticized, the Curtis collection still has great images of the American Indians, where you could find examples of the aforementioned sub-racial types.
