Does anybody in the forum know about the degree of sexual dimorphism in the various races (caucasoid, mongoloid, negroid, australoid) ?
I only know from the german version of John Baker's "Race" that the sexual dimorphism in australoids is quite low. But I do not know anything about sexual dimorphism in the other races.

Usually its not just a question of race but of individual sexual type and constitutional type too.
If a group on average is more Leptosomic (f.e. Nordid or Australid) the sexual difference is not as strong (or seems so) like it is in medium statured or athletic build ones.
Quite strong is the dimorphism in Gracilindids (medium statured/mesosom) or North Alpines (Borreby) (athletic/athletosom).
The weakest sexual dimorphism is in paedomorphic or foetalized races like the South East Asians = Palaemongolids.

I didn't know that. Interesting
"Quite strong is the dimorphism in Gracilindids (medium statured/mesosom) or North Alpines (Borreby) (athletic/athletosom)".
also in mediterranids the dimorphism is quite high according to my experience.

yeah, I noticed that too. Also in the chinese (sinid) the dimorphism seems to be quite low.

Gracilindid and Gracilmediterranid (f.e. Central and Southern Spain, Southern Portugal, Southern Italy) are quite similar in many features. There body build is essentially the same on average = Mesosom. For the Sinid type there is a major difference between the Northern parts of China (the original Chin land) and the Southern parts because the Nordsinid type has more dimorphism and is less paedomorphic than the Southern type. But on average the sexual dimorphism is weaker in all Mongolids. (East Asians) But weakest for certain Palaemongolid types. (f.e. Southern Thailand, Indonesian Mongolids etc.)

How does the mittelsinid type fit in there ? Where does the nordsinid type begin geographically, north of the huang he ?

"Gackt" is a good example of sexual dimorphism in Mongoloids. ;D

recently I have read in a book by Ilse Schwidetzky that dimorphism is lowest in the negrid race.

As an Australian I would have to take issue with Baker's conclusions about the Australian Aborigines. For one thing they vary quite a deal in stature, body form and skin colour throughout Australia. They have distinct sub races. The Tiwi compared to Queensland aborigines compared to Victorian aborigines vary greatly. The Tiwi are tall, and very black, Victorian aborigines are of medium height, brown skinned, stocky and hairy. As far as the sexes go, the males are taller, more linear whereas the females are lighter in colour, solid built and get quite heavy with age with large drooping breasts and very wide hips. Even the extinct Tasmanian full bloods had distinct sexual dimorphism, compare Trugannini and William Laney.

Do you refer to Baker's conclusion that in australids the women's hips are as narrow as in men ? I cannot agree with some anthropologists' conclusions either. In this context, the reported low sexual dimorphism in negrids cannot be true for all negrid subraces. Maybe it is true for the Sudanids and Nilotids but it cannot be true for the Bantuids. On the other side, the reported high sexual dimorphism for Mediterranids compared to Nordids is absolutely true.
