Hello , This is my first post here.
I'm researching about the origins of Venetic people. Genetic data proves that Venetis are somewhat central europeans , but classic theories (Plato , Plinius , and others) wrote that the Venetis descend from the Paphlagonians in Asia Minor.
Other sources mention the Venetis in Brittanty , in Prussia (wends ??) , as a tribe of the Etruscans , as Celts , Rhaetics , Illyrians , and many other tribes who genetically have nothing to do with the actual venetic popoluation.
I have found no trace of archeological evidence proving any link between paleo-venetis and Paphlagonians.
question :
is there some source (maybe published only in greek or turk language) that mention something about the Venetis ? (called "Heneti" or "Henetoi" by many classic writers) ?
Thanks a lot , Rheto

Thanks a lot , Rheto I read an article once linking the Veneti to the Western Slavic group in Germany called the Wends/Wendishe (also known as Sorbs, and their language as Sorbian). This author also linked them to the Vandals, who migrated from Eastern Europe to Spain with the Visigoths, and from there went on to conquer much of North Africa. I have also read articles stating that Sorb or Wendish women married Jewish males, to become the ancestors of the Askenazi Jews in Germany

I, too, have been led to believe that the Venedi were a Slavic tribe, albeit latecomers to the region, ca. 6th-7th c. CE. Prior to that I suppose the autochthonous folk would have been Illyrians.
