I thought the same when I looked at his pic.Btw Tavarits Brezjnev shows mongol traits too. Comrade in Russian is Tovaritj (pronounced "tavaritch" ). Brezjnev was a "Ukrainian", but when I saw him the first time I honestly tought he was a Kazakh or Tatar.

I wouldn't say they are too euro-looking.. look at the skin color of president Sjamijev of Tatarstan, isn't it a bit dark for a "euro"? I think even Brezjnev looks more "euro".
