In my mind, that is not the case. I know this view of mine may counter Nichols intended point. However, look at Nichols picture. She is, w/o a doubt, a white woman not mixed race. As I said before or maybe I implied it, there is small amounts of non white admixture in European descended people of various small amounts. I realize this. Given this, it is sometimes chic or trendy for some whites, now a days, to play up the possible small amounts of non white ancestry in their background even if the person is unmistakenly and w/o a doubt white. Okay, TZUNTSU, now you know more about my ancestry than I do, right? Or at least you seem to think you do. The fact is that "Mongol/Turk/Khazar" was my grandmother, my maternal grandmother at that, which means I'm carrying her mtDNA. Why would I play up my non-white ancestry? It's a hundred years past, and I'm not enough Apache, for instance, to qualify for any scholarships or tribal membership. So what's the benefit for me in playing up my non-white ancestry? You must think there's one, but I don't really expect to get a coherent answer from you. I posted those pictures to see if anyone would notice the family connection -- admittedly, my grandmother and I don't resemble each other strongly, but I'm surprised no one guessed that my great-grandmother and I were related. My family members say that I favor her strongly. So did no one get it? Perhaps I should have added a photo of my mother, but we look so much alike I thought that'd be too easy.

Okay, TZUNTSU, now you know more about my ancestry than I do, right? Or at least you seem to think you do. No, and if you read my post carefully, I said I wasn't good at this guess the race horse flop game. I was attempting to convey the roots of this silly 'who is white or whiter' game that seems to permeate these boards with these set core of posters. The fact is that "Mongol/Turk/Khazar" was my grandmother, my maternal grandmother at that, which means I'm carrying her mtDNA. Again, I must've guessed wrong, I'll say it again, I am not good at this silly guess the race routine. I think it is silly. Why would I play up my non-white ancestry? I have no idea. It's a hundred years past, and I'm not enough Apache, for instance, to qualify for any scholarships or tribal membership. Actually, you can. My friends wife did and she is blonde hair and blue eyes and managed to receive some kind of funding for medical school because of her 1/16th Indian ancestry. So what's the benefit for me in playing up my non-white ancestry? I was speaking in general not necessarily about you and I was responding to another poster who was trying make a point about racemixing that was somewhat in the context of this thread. You must think there's one, but I don't really expect to get a coherent answer from you. So you say. Understood.
