Obviously an extreme case of acromegaly. Extremely pathological, this poor guy will get serious problems in later age...

How would you classify him, according to his features as 'masked' by his acromegaly? A mindless challenge, perhaps. Osteuropid-Turanid? Osteuropid-Pontid?

Without acromegaly he would be close to Lebed most likely, which is another guy hard to classify...

Without acromegaly he would be close to Lebed most likely, which is another guy hard to classify... So you do not agree with the notion that Lebed is predominantly Uralid-Ladogan? Or perhaps it is mostly a question of typology? There seems to be little agreement on the typology of eastern Europe and beyond. Do you acknowledge the term "Ladogan"?

I prefer to use Lappid (narrower sense) and Lappoid. Lebed might be Cromagnoid-Lappoid or vice versa, hard to determine. He shows Lappoid traits in every case...

I prefer to use Lappid (narrower sense) and Lappoid. Lebed might be Cromagnoid-Lappoid or vice versa, hard to determine. He shows Lappoid traits in every case... The Uralid or Ladogan matrix of eastern Europe, Russia, etc. is certainly closely related to the Lappid type(s) of northern Scandinavia, the Kola etc., but I think the types are too divergent to be equated. The Uralid-Ladogan may very well be Cromagnid in its own right, and the Lappid might be considered an alpinized or semi-alpinized, foetalized Uralid-Ladogan, which may have absorbed small amounts of Sibirid Mongolid. What do you think? I would characterize both Lebed and the following individuals as predominantly or near fully Uralid-Ladogan: www.geocities.com/racial_reality/sub_ladogan.jpgwww.snpa.nordish.net/bilder/rastyper10.jpgAmerican actress Kristen Johnston is significantly Uralid-Ladogan: images.zap2it.com/20050815/kristenjohnston_240_001.jpgThe same goes for Mr. Kalashnikov: www.mosnews.com/files/10496/kalashnikov.jpg... and these pedomorphic Russian girls: 66.132.149.203/photo/a/ax6110c.jpg64.226.221.2/photo/i/is1550.jpgA Selkup boy of predominantly Uralid-Ladogan type, showing Sibirid/Tungid influence: nrsm.nsc.ru/sibir/abor/selkup/selkup41.jpgA couple of rather "unmixed" Lappids from Sweden: www.snpa.nordish.net/lapp9.htm(How do I go about posting pictures, rather than links?)

Btw, the astonishingly high frequency of mtDNA Haplogroup V in Saami individuals seems to indicate that an older, non-Uralid (perhaps (south)western Cromagnid) element - possibly affiliated with the Komsa culture - has been absorbed into their genetic composition. This is not, to my knowledge, the case with the remainder of the Uralid, or at least Tat-bearing, populations.
Of course, I realize that one should be cautious in making racial-historical statements based on percentages of Y-Chromosome and mtDNA haplogroups.
