Y-chromosome 10 locus short tandem repeat haplotypes in a population sample from Sicily Italy.
Elena Ghiani M, Stefano Piras I, John Mitchell R, Vona G.
Department of Experimental Biology, University of Cagliari, Cagliari, Italy.
This study reports the first data on Y-chromosome-specific short tandem repeat (STR) haplotype frequencies, in the population of the island of Sicily (Italy), based on the combination of alleles at the following 10 Y-chromosome loci DYS19, DYS389I, DYS389II, DYS390, DYS391, DYS392, DYS393, DYS437, DYS438, and DYS439. In a total of 117 males, 108 unique haplotypes were observed, with 99 of them being singletons. The 10 locus haplotypes generated a diversity value of 0.9987 and discriminatory power (DP) of 92.30%. The data on the seven of the 10 polymorphisms (DYS19; DYS389I; DYS389II; DYS390; DYS391; DYS392 and DYS393) that have been most studied in worldwide populations were compared with similar data from neighboring Mediterranean populations in order to address the question of shared ancestry, gene flow and population affinities. Overall, results indicate Sicily is closest genetically to the mainland Italian population but also with evidence of a significant African component in the male gene pool. These findings are consistent with those obtained from other genetic markers (autosomal and mitochondrial DNA as well as the classical blood groups) and also with the recorded settlement history (either peaceful or due to invasion) of the island.

Yes its North African, and it's extremely Minimal. Corda or whatever the name you go by...That abstract is once again misleading and you didnt fully read the study(let alone post the link to it)...so if anyone hasa reading problem or mental problem its you! Read: racialreality.blogspot.com/2004/08/study-clarification-i.htmlA 2.5 admixture,is extremely low and still Caucasoid and belongs in Mediterranean Race stock...and nothing resembling the Czekanowski's scheme/map .

... A 2.5 admixture,is extremely low and still Caucasoid and belongs in Mediterranean Race stock...and nothing resembling the Czekanowski's scheme/map . [that's just 2.5% admixture]. Another unproved claim not found in this study. Using different approaches scientists estimate it as significant, evident or Among these, Arab domination seems to have had a very strong genetic impact. Genetic analysis of a Sicilian population using 15 short tandem repeats Human Biology, Apr 2003 by Calo, C M, Garofano, L, Mameli, A, Pizzamiglio, M, Vona, G www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3659/is_200304/ai_n9178664also from this source Our data seem to confirm the hypothesis of Sandler et al. (1978) that underlines the African contribution to the Sicilian gene pool, because of the high frequencies of Hbs, cDe, and Fy (a-b-) These are opinions of professionals. Everybody can judge for themselves.

I think Czekanowski's depiction of the Dinaric (Caucaso-Balkan) type is fundamentally correct (although I would have put a few more in the Tyrol, Italy and the Carpathians) My view of the Dinarics is closest to Coon's, but I have two variations on it. Basically the Dinaric is a disharmonic type, very brackycephalic, planoccipital 'dome' shaped skull and 'bullet' headed, with features usually close to Mediterraneans and Nordics. A similar trend towards this diharmony can be seen on many other types as well and I call it ( Dinaricization) Therefore A Dinaricization can happen in most of Europe, while true Dinarics (high headed, planoccipital) are peculiar of certain areas only. This is only my interpretation but I found it very useful in classification. I'll explain what I mean: This man (Lithuanian) has a very round head and long face, metrically he is Dinaricized, though the broadness of the face and the general morphology point more to other types (Ladogan-E.Baltic) preventing him to be classified as a pure Dinaric. Middle individual (Dutch) is too short/Wide faced, and slightly curvoccipital and low headed, the first and last individuals are more typical, lets go back to that lithuanian - cracker coon must have shaved his hair to add further emphasis to the particular characters of that individual - although that photo plate is small and can be misleading, how is this man metrically dinaric? your comparative analysis seems wrong somewhere - that photo doesn't do it - picture yourself in a public area sitting; you are sitting in front of someone similar to that man - you will notice immediately that he stands out. large and very blocky headed and blocky faced, from the sides his head is particularly steep sided, from behind the head - the occiput is tall, broad and steep although its more domed and not compressed in a dinaric manner - neither does the occiput converge on lamda in the abrupt way that it happens in typical dinarics. even the temporals are different, in this general class the temporals are high and very steep and converge on abbreviated parietal bossings - again dinaric temporals are not like that. the face again is extremely peculiar as the forward facing cheeks are like big compressed slabs. the eyes are seeming prominently bulginging out of the lids and sockets plus the whole soft parts morphology of the alveolar area is integumentally thick and well developed; the lips have relatively fine outlines, the lower lip is everted while the upper lip is loooooong and convex like. that man has the greatest resemblance with anglo saxons, irish, swedes, finns, and brown skinned iranianesque - central asian cro magnoids, and is not similar to those dinarics, so he isn't metrically dinaric; either you are over generalizing or you must be badly confused.

that lithuanian belongs in a highly distinctive metrical category - you might as well thrown in dinaricized amercanoids, south asians, and east asians along with those dinarics of yours, lol!

what i mean't is the iranian language related peoples in tajikistan, afghania, pakistan, etc, that are hyborean and cro magnoid like.
on the side the cro magnoid like types in georgia - caucasia, russia. basically drawing an analogous metrical pattern further east.

@$$
You didnt read my post properly and you didnt understand my point
I posted Coon's Lithuanian to show how not all those who are brachycephalic and long faced have to be necessarily Dinaric
