Perhaps the most controversial subject still connected with the term Aryan to this day remains the racial connotations associated with the term Aryan. The question arises: If Aryans belonged linguistically to the greater Indo-European family and, if the Indo-Europeans who began migrating eastwards some five thousand years ago were in fact members of the Nordic race as undeniably shown in the ample skeletal record, then were the Nazis correct in calling themselves Aryan in the last world war? And if so, then why should the people speaking Iranian languages call themselves Aryan? The answer is simple. All Nordic people originally shared linguistic ties that evolved into different dialects during the great expansion period of the Indo-Europeans. As with all people from the beginning of history, Nordic featured Indo-Europeans absorbed alien people in their society. The case for the Germanic people encountered by the Romans in the first century before the Common Era, reveals that the majority of the Germanic folk were tall, fair skinned, blond haired and blue eyed. Skeletal evidence however, shows that although the majority of the tribes of the north German plains displayed typical Nordic traits, there were pockets of other physical types as well, including the very tall (height ranging from 187 cm to 191cm in men), robust, high cheek-boned, dark haired, gray eyed survivors of the Aurignacian and Perigordian mammoth hunting stone age cultures of Pleistocene Europe. The Celts, also described by Roman writers as a typically tall and robust fair-haired race, displayed sharp physical differences between members of different social classes and regions. While the ruling warrior and priestly classes were almost exclusively made of long-headed Nordics, the farmers and lower echelons of society represented the conquered, assimilated folk, descended from the Mesolithic “lake dwelling” cultures belonging to the shorter Alpine race, characterized by average height of about 175-177cm (modern standards), green or hazel eyes, dark brown hair, broad brachycephalic skull and a round and short globular face common in Bavaria and the Palatinate. The cases for these two typically Indo-European peoples shows that despite the preponderance of Nordic traits, physical variety still existed as no people in history seems to have belonged exclusively to one racial type. The Slavs further east too were Indo-Europeans and still retain to this day many Nordic features, especially among he people of north-western Russia, the Ukraine and part of northern Poland but they too gradually absorbed, peacefully mixed with or forcefully incorporated Mongoloid and other Europoid peoples in their fold. The case for the Aryans must have been similar. Trekking over vast prairie lands, the Aryans ancestors of the Iranian-speaking people encountered and inevitably absorbed other people north of the Black Sea and in Central Asia.
We have already discussed the physical characteristics of the Nordic with cephalic index averaging 77-78 (therefore mesocephalic or medium headed), average height exceeding 185 cm (by modern standards; 173cm in olden times) in men, facial index exceeding 87 and typically ruddy complexion as well as blond or red hair. Iranians themselves have tried to argue against the Nordic origins among the early Aryans, using as grounds the fact that the people Iran and northern India are overwhelmingly dark. One can use as example the people of Central Latin America. Although the majority of the population in the region ranging from the Yucatan Peninsula to Guatemala is Amerindian, common language is Spanish. Spanish is an Indo-European language, brought in by the Roman invaders of Spain. While Spaniards themselves were mostly western Mediterranean (Basque) with slight traces of Indo-Europeans brought in by the La Tene Celts (giving birth to the mixed Celt-Iberians), they adopted the speech of the invader. Once in the New World, the Spaniards quickly conquered the native populations and absorbed them into their cultures. Today, these people often refer to themselves as “Latinos”. The term would correctly be used to describe a branch of the Italics, a people of Indo-European origin who came to occupy and give their name to the Italian Peninsula. Why are Central-American Spanish-speaking Indians or mixed natives referring to themselves as Latinos, a racial term that in no way applies to them? The answer is that a relatively small population of warbands came to conquer and occupy a land occupied for millennia by native people whose physical traits were different from their own.
Depending on the ratio between invader and conquered as well as the level of intermarriage and friendly relations between the two communities, race mixture and cultural absorption took place over the centuries resulting in mixed types and native types forming a numerical majority while the physical type brought in by the invaders or the newcomers remains either a small minority or absorbed by sheer weight of numbers. Relations may at times be of a peaceful nature, as in the case of the Nordic Indo-Europeans and the Mongoloid Finnish populations of the Russian forest zone, Estonia and Finland. In those regions, so many successive waves of Indo-Europeans arrived among the natives that the earlier Mongoloid type is found mainly in mixed form or none at all in areas where it had once dominated. The result is that Estonians and southern Finns are largely Nordic and Europoid in general physical type, while Finnish in speech. Mixtures are bound to take place as two or more people meet and merge, adopting each other’s ways or the ways of the culturally superior group. At times relations are friendly and a symbiosis takes place, while at other times, the case is conquest by sheer force. The results may vary still. The invaders might succeed in imposing their ways and language on the earlier population, as was the case for the Aryans who absorbed the Burushaski populations of Central Asia, driving that language group to near extinction. Another possibility might be the absorption of the new element by the older, depending on cultural continuity and antiquity as well as sheer numerical strength, as was the case for the Mongols in Iran where their type constitutes but a small minority that speaks Persian rather than Mongolian. Was this the same case in the lands settled and conquered by the Aryans? Why is there such a high incidence of blondism in Azarbaijan and Gilan for instance, as opposed to the provinces of Pars and Khouzestan in Iran, supposedly settled by the same people (the last two received considerable influx of Arab blood after invasion by Mohammedan hordes)? What about the Aryans of the Indian subcontinent, where they all absorbed into the population? And if so, what about Mendel’s law of re-emergence which rules that mixed people with the same genotype may intermarry and cause a re-emergence of the recessive racial type in at least 25% of cases? If Nordic genes were present among Iranians and Indians why can’t we observe an incidence of light hair and eyes comparable to the central Europeans who also represent a mixture of light/dark? Mixed types would no doubt cause a re-emergence or at least the appearance of new types displaying mixed features. Let us glance at the British Isles for instance where Bronze Age Celtic invaders brought Nordic genes to the islands mainly settled by people anthropologists refer to as the Atlanto-Mediterranean. The latter is characterized by fair skin, black hair and very dark eyes, tall stature and an extremely high facial index (exceeding 89) that gives the individual a very long and thin face feature (originally from Iberia). Mixture of the two races resulted in a hybrid type that is very common among the Irish, English and Scottish people, combining the thin face and dark hair of the Atlanto-Mediterranean with the blue eyes of the Nordic. The actors Pierce Brosnan and Elizabeth Taylor are perfect example of this mixture. Why can’t we seem similar features among the Indians with the same amount of frequency or see them more often in Iran’s southern provinces? There is no doubt from the skeletons found throughout the Aryan homelands as well as those found among their close kin the Tokhars, that these were Indo-European people in every sense, with blond hair, blue eyes and other Nordic features. The hundreds of unearthed mummies found in the Tarim Basin (now partly censored by the Chinese government from fear of revealing the Chinese debt owed to the white race) as well as the skeletons of nomadic Iranians, backed by historical
references in ancient sources clearly underline the Nordic trait of the Aryans and Tokhars.

Artistic depictions ranging from coins and bronze statues to the colorful paintings of the Buddhist monasteries in the Tarim Basin near Aksu, Qyzyl and Turfan depicting red and blond haired white people with blue or gray eyes are even stronger proof arguing in favor of the Nordic background of the Aryans and Tokhars. Perhaps the answer lies elsewhere? It is interesting to note that when races mix, local conditions such as weather and incidence of sunlight favor some genes over others. The descendants of individuals sharing a partially or wholly similar genotype while evolving over a period of centuries and even millennia in different parts of the world with different climatic conditions will adapt differently in their respective environments (thus producing similar genotype but different phenotype). In southern European countries where successive waves of Italic, Celt, Germanic and Norman invaders brought in sufficient Nordic genes to impact the local gene pool, the infant mortality among blond haired children is three times higher. With such figures, one can understand why in Northern India such as Punjab, Kashmir and especially the Karakoram areas of Pakistan, there are such high incidences of people with pure white skin with green or blue eyes, as among the Tajiks of Afghanistan, with very slight incidence of blond or red hair. Local natural selection is strongly involved here. Had the same individuals evolved in the shady temperate forests of northern Europe, their appearance might have been different. Also of interest is the common factor that turns a large number of mixed/blond children in Iran, Afghanistan and Kurdistan, into dark haired individuals by their teens or twenties. The process known as “darkening” is also observed in Europe where in Germany for instance, some 60-65% of schoolchildren have blond or light brown hair as opposed to 35% dark hair (including brown and black) and 2-3% red hair. By adult age however, 55-60% of the German population retains light hair (and thus 40-45% ends up with dark hair), This “darkening” effect may affect a mere 5% of Germans of mixed genotype but the phenomenon is stronger among Iranians (Persian and Kurdish speakers). This process is indeed widespread among Iranians with at least one light haired parent or grandparent (including the present author). It is also interesting to note that among individuals with mixed genotypes (heterozygotes) the dominant trait usually masks the recessive trait thus causing a “pure race” individual belonging to the dominant type and a mixed race to have similar phenotypes (outward features) but different genotype (actual genetic make up). The Hardy-Weinberg law however will rule that the genetic make up of a population will not alter for even recessive or “weak” genes will remain present, although at times masked by dominant traits. This rule will remain in effect provided that no one type is artificially reduced from the gene pool (war, discrimination, selective extermination etc....) and no mutations occur. It is interesting to note that in Iran, the highest incidence of blond hair and light skin comes from the northwest, particularly Azarbaijan. It may not be an exaggeration to say that at least half of the population of this province if not more, possesses Nordic genes in one form or another. Light hair or eyes are so common that many Azari individuals often pass as Europeans in the eyes of other Iranians who freely converse in the presence of their countrymen, not realizing they share a common language! Why are the incidences so high there while being at the other extreme end of the spectrum in the province of Pars for instance? Glazed wall paintings from the Achamenid palace of Shush preserved at the Louvre Museum of Paris show that blond hair was not unknown to the Persians. In fact, on one such section alone depicting six Persian warriors (not to be confused with the Elamite guardsmen who are almost black in skin complexion) warriors magnificently dressed in Immortal ceremonial fatigues, two in three individuals have blond or light brown hair, with blue or green eyes. Herodotus did mention that the Immortals and Spearbearers were drawn from the elite and finest families among the Persians and Medes. This clearly reflects the racial character of the early Iranians on the Plateau, a reality depicted in the art, which stands as infallible proof that early Iranian speakers were in fact mostly Nordic. Today, there are a number of people from the southern provinces with light eyes or even light skin but blond hair is extremely rare (Kermanshah being an exception). Could this be the result of local natural selection as well? The answer lies in the climatic differences between Azarbaijan and Pars. The first is known for its beautiful, temperate forests, which abound in the north of Iran, stretching through the Caspian Coast into Khorassan. The latter however is mostly covered in dry shrub, dry forest-steppes and steppe, as a result of the arid climate. Likewise, the Kara Koram passes of Pakistan and India have colder climates, which are more similar to Central Europe than to southern Asia. Here. The descendants of Scythians can still be identified by their light skin, hair and eyes in the high mountain valleys of the Pamirs and Wakhan, whereas in the rest of South Asia, no such features can be observed, the only testimony to the Aryans’ presence being the light skin and European facial features of the Sikhs and Punjabis. The relatively recent settling of the Scythians in those regions may also explain why natural selection had less time altering the phenotype of the people of those regions, a process that would have taken thousands of years as among northern Indians for instance. A number of Indian or Pakistanese actors such as Zinta, Bash, Bhutt, Mamta and Amir Khan stand as clear proof that Aryans were at least partially Nordic similar to their Indo-European cousins in Europe, prior to being absorbed into the overwhelmingly dark skinned native population. It would be wrong therefore, for various groups inspired by different political or racial motives to refer to the whole white race as Aryan, or even to the people of mid 20th century Germany as such. In the fist case, doing so would be similar to referring to the entire African/Black race as Bantu, a term meant to describe merely one of the many ethno-linguistic subdivisions of that geographical race. Secondly, it would be ignoring the fact that not all Germans belong to the same race, since neither Hitler, Goering nor Goebbels fit the “ideal” and specifically Nordic physical type described in Hitler’s “Mein Kampf. The very fact that the Germans and to a much lesser extent their Scandinavian kin display a diversity of physical types is grounds for dismissal of that view. Lastly, we must not forget that the Indo-Europeans were divided into various nations including Aryans, Celts, Germans, Slavs and others, each divided into tribes and sub-tribes. Aryans were but one of the many nations of the Indo-European familly and did not represent the entire group, whether in name of race. The term Aryan was always correctly associated with the Indo-Europeans that went east and settled first in Central Asia and subsequently in the lands of Iran, Kurdistan, Afghanistan and the northern part of the Indian sub-continent. Race can no longer describe a people who over the course of time absorbed people of other physical types.

That fact did not dismiss the Aryans from still bearing their name, but merely showed that just as America is today becoming less northern European and more diverse in its racial make up due to migrations and mixtures, so were the Aryans becoming more diverse through racial mixture over 4,000 years of history. Based on the earlier comparison with the people of Central America, the false argument that Aryans looked the same way 4,000 years ago as they do today because of the current genetic features of the inhabitants of areas subsequently settled by the Aryans cannot hold ground and should be immediately dismissed. There are enough historical references by ancient travelers and chroniclers to show that many Aryan tribes including the Scythians and Sarmatians were in fact overwhelmingly European and Nordic in physical type. Herodotus speaks of some European Scythian or pre-Scythian Iranian tribes, notably the Budini as being “red haired with blue or gray eyes” and Pliny describes the Dahae tribes (including the Parni later called Parthians) as “flaxen haired with steel blue eyes”. Skeletal evidence of the Scythian Kurgans in the southern Ukraine shows that this ancient Iranian people whose descendants live primarily among the Ossetians of the Caucasus today (as well as mixed with the people of Iranian Azerbaijan and Mingrellia) belonged mainly to two types: One was tall, long limbed and mesocephalic (long headed) with blond hair and blue or gray eyes and statures exceeding 184cm in males while the other was black haired and brown eyed, brachycephalic (broadheaded) with an average stature in males of 175-176 cm (modern standards). Other studies regarding the skeletons of Scythians in Central Asia including the Dahae and Asiani revealed an overwhelming presence of Nordic and Armenoid, both European in every sense and therefore neither common to the Mediterranean and proto-Dravidian types of Iran and southern Asia. The evolution of Aryan Iranian-speakers in terms of race can be traced from anthropometrical data, which shows the Andronovo population (ancestors of Aryans) having a cephalic index of 77-78 and a facial index of 48-49, and the Iranians including people of the Karasuk culture, the Scythians of Central Asia and the Persians, having cephalic averages of 79.5 to 83 and facial indices of 51-54 with height being almost always tall (in Bronze Age as well as modern terms). Likewise the Achamenid and Arsacid figures and paintings depict blond haired Iranians while the Sassanians were clearly described as a dark or mixed complexioned and generally short or medium stature race. Opponents of such overwhelming evidence tend to ask: “Where then are these Aryans? If the Aryans belonged to European physical types, then why can’t they be identified in the present populations of Iran and northern India? We have to be very observant in order to find the answer. Where the Iranian Scythian and Sarmatian once roamed, there are now Mongoloid people descended from various Turkish and Mongol tribes originally from Mongolia. In other places, Slavs and Germans have settled their former lands so that the physical type among the modern populations would be identical to the old. These Altaic speakers are in no way uniform in physical type however. The people of Uzbekistan for instance, are clearly a mixture of Mongoloids and non-Mongoloid types, including both European and Mediterranean types. Between the clearly Asiatic Uighurs and Kyrgyz, light hair and lighter skin complexions occur from time to time, showing that the Altaic nomads absor-bed the earlier Iranian Scythians and Sarmatians. Presently, a growing number of Uighur nationalists are coming to terms with their partially Aryan/Tokhar ancestry, giving greater acceptance to individuals with light hair or Caucasoid features. In Iran itself, there is wide occurrence of light hair among the people of Azerbaijan, Gilan, Kermanshah and Kurdistan, ranging from light brown, golden blond to platinum blond. Giinther believes this trait to be as common as among the populations of the Caucasus who have an average of 15% blondism. Over the years I have befriended many Azaris and over half of them displayed clearly Nordic features including light, flaxen or red hair with blue, green or gray eyes. These traits lead us to ask why such a heavy concentration in the northern provinces? In the case of Azerbaijan, the answer may go back to the Saka Seni, a Scythian tribe that invaded northern Iran from beyond the Caucasus over 2,700 years ago and established its supremacy over the Medes, before being defeated. There, in the northern part of Azerbaijan, on the border with the district of Nakhshevan, they created a kingdom where many settled and were absorbed into the later Iranian empires. Furthermore, in the Middle Ages, the Altaic speaking Oghuz federation of Turkish tribes settled in the areas of Azerbaijan and Zanjan. Although almost 25% of the population in Iran and nearly the same percentage in Afghanistan speak Altaic languages, the actual percentage of Oriental physical types fitting that category, as do Central Asian Turks and Mongols is extremely lower. Throughout the history of Iranshahr, various Turkic, Hunnish and Mongol groups have intruded in Iranian speaking lands. Various levels of interaction have taken place and although the case of the multitude of Turco-Mongol invaders in Iran itself is one of absorption into the Iranian speaking population, that for Central Asia is very different. Various Iranian nomads such as the vast number of Scythian tribes who once roamed the Eurasian steppes were eventually absorbed in the Altaic-speaking groups. Physical types however never disappeared entirely. The case of the Hepthalites of “White Huns” is particularly interesting. While the Huns were always associated with Mongoloid features by their Germanic and Roman foes, history shows that they did not exterminate the people they eventually defeated and absorbed. In Europe, the Hun federation consisted of Paleo-Siberian speaking Huns as well as several Germanic people including the Rugians, Gepids and west Goths, all with typical northern European features. In addition, there were nomadic Iranian Alani Sarmatians as well, fighting along their former Hunnish foes.

It is clear that physical types within such as heterogeneous group would vary greatly. The case for the Huns of Asia was no different. They were divided in various clans, including Black, Red and White Huns. The White Huns are of particular interest because the skeletal evidence as well as their depictions on various wall paintings, statues and coins show them to be a typically European people. In fact, linguistic and skeletal studies have revealed the White Huns to be the descendants of the Burushaski natives of Central Asia with an Iranian Scythian upper class. Physical features among the later Kyrgyz, Uighur and especially Kara Khitai show a Mongoloid as well as a European type present in various levels of the population. The Iranian speakers were incorporated in the political entity of the victorious Altaic nomads who then absorbed the earlier groups, as is always the case in the nations throughout the world. The same was true for the Oghuz Turks who were largely descended from the Massagetae people, mixed with some Turkic elements, which would explain the very strong presence of blond hair with blue or gray eyes among the people of Azerbaijan, an area that received a heavy influx of Turkish-speaking migrants since the late 10th/early 11th century CE. In our era, we may observe a Native American, speaking perfect English and dressing in blue jeans, wearing a Heavy Metal t-shirt and wonder why he is not European in his physical features, like his fair-haired conquerors that brought these cultural elements into his formerly hunter-gatherer world. The answer is similar in many ways. The fair-haired and Europoid Iranian nomads of the Steppes would hence be known under the generic name of Turk and enter Iranshahr including Tokharestan in northern Afghanistan and Azerbaijan in Iran, where the ancient Iranian nomad’s blue eyes, light hair and skin would continue living on in the population. In the absence of data, some Europeans explain the presence of fair hair and fair skin among Iranians in often simplistic and outright erroneous ways. The belief centers on the Macedonian conquest of these lands, which then received an influx of military colonists from Europe. Some 25% of Alexander’s soldiers were initially made up of Greeks.
Greeks as we know are dark Mediterranean people, mixed to some extent in the northern country with Alpine blood. 20th century studies have shown that some 96% of Greeks were dark haired, with black predominating by far. What proportions of light features exist among Greeks are thought to be inherited from Slavic colonists who penetrated or settled the Byzantine Empire in its final days. Macedonians on the other hand were a mixture of Thrakian, Illyrian and Greek. Thrakian warriors were probably largely light in view of their steppe Indo-European background. Still, this does not offer an adequate explanation for there is ample archeological and historical evidence from Pliny, Herodotus as well as the skeletal evidence to serve as testimony to the fact that the nomad Iranians, such as the Scythians and Sarmatians were European in a racial sense, incorporating both Armenoid and Nordic physical types. An interesting case is that of Iranian-speaking Ossetians of the Caucasus who have a higher incidence of Blondism than other Caucasians of the area. Armenians intermingled with people of Scythian and especially Parthian blood and have a high incidence of light hair and eyes also. None of the above mentioned cases could be accounted for by the Macedonian conquest.
Various groups appropriated the term Aryan in the 20th century to describe an ideal physical type and culture. In reality the Aryans were originally Nordic in race but what defined them was their ethnic identity and the space they came to occupy rather than their genes. Also of crucial importance in the shaping of the ethnos were the peoples that merged with or were absorbed who joined in contributing to the creation of the distinctive cultures that resulted from the Aryan migrations culture. Within this larger framework, the Aryan becomes not a stereotypical Nordic but rather a group of great explorers and trekkers across the great Eurasian steppes who merged with the various people they came into contact with, giving and gaining in the long run and assuming an ever changing identity thanks to these constant interactions. To answer the question once and for all, are the Iranian people Aryans or can that term be used only in connection with a specific racial type? Yes and no are both correct answers. Only a few Iranians, mostly among the people of northern Iranshahr can clearly fit in that category, in the sense of having both Aryan genes and culture related to the ancient Aryans, although populations spread throughout the Iranian Plateau may have Nordic genes thinly diluted in their genetic make up. Although large numbers of Iranians still reflect on their pre-Aryan genetic ancestry, the “Aryan” identity has come to describe the describe the holders of an identity far deeper than racial traits could ever define. The terminology-although clearly defined as applying to Iranian speakers with predominantly Nordic genes-will continue to be misused by various groups for different political motives. Some Iranian ultra-nationalists will continue depicting themselves as “pure Aryans” or “real Aryans” regardless of race. Others will see Germans and Iranians as “fellow Aryans” even though the two people can generally (except for minor instances) be distinguished in terms of physical appearance. White supremacist groups speak of “Aryan” in a completely different sense, including every member or t the white race, regardless of genetic differences while people with “Aryan” physical features professing faiths and political ideologies other than the group’s accepted ones will be shunned as “subhuman”. Remaining outside the scope of terminology used for political agendas and propaganda purposes, Aryans remain a distinct Indo-European people that advanced through the steppes of Eurasia some 4,700 years, who settled and eventually mixed with various races, colors and creeds to give rise to the Iranian, Kurdish, Afghan and Tajik nations.

Man! What a fantastic piece of writing, cocacola! I have a few questions for you and somethings I'd like you to clarify: 1.) What is your opinion of the "Nordindid" type of Eastern Iran and northwestern India? Is it close to the original Nordic Aryan type or is it like all the others just a mixed Irano-Afghan hybrid with fair skin? 2.) By the Nordic type, do you mean the Danubian-Hallstatt type? Coon defined Nordic as a mixture between Corded and Danubian populations, with the Danubian being the most important in the Nordic construction. He also believed the Aryans to have been Danubians. 3.) What races in Iran did the Aryans mix with to produce the modern Iranians? The Elamites of Dravidian affinities? The Irano-Afghans? Those pictures of pre-Aryan types in Iran help but I'd like to hear a bit more about who lived in Iran before the Nordic Medes and Persians. 4.) How much Mongoloid ancestry do Iranians have and would it have been enough to have alter the Iranian racial character significantly? 5.) Would you agree that the half-Persian Catherine Bell is dead sexy?

I don't think believing the Aryans to be Nordic makes one Nordicist. I believe the Aryans were Nordic, most definitely. I also believe that any people who claim to be the pure lineal descendant population of the Aryans are kidding themselves. The Aryans mixed with everyone they conquered. They mixed with Atlanto-Mediterraneans in southern Europe, with Dravidians in India, with the Irano-Afghans of the Iranian Plateau, with the Mongoloids of Turkestan, with the Alpines of Central Europe, with the Basic White types of northern Europe, you get the idea. They no longer exist as a distinct people. They are only a remnant.

I don't think believing the Aryans to be Nordic makes one Nordicist. Yes it does. Why the f*** would they have been nordic? They're kidding themselves? Not you? Oh god.. The people who called themselves Aryans were the people of Northern India. They've always been living there, the story of the Aryan invasion of India from the Northwest was made up by Europeans (probably Brits) to justify their reign in India. It's totally senseless to claim Aryans were nordic. No serious scientific streams have ever stated that. The roots of Nordicism are political-ideological. The reality is, that it weren't the blond, nordic folks who gave civilisation to the darker folks, but the darker people brought the civilisation up the the North, to the blonde folks. And the Aryans of India had nothing to do with those "Nordics". Face it.

Great. Another Indo-European denier. THE WHITE MAN MADE IT ALL UP! And excuse me, the Aryans weren't Nordic, they were Danubian. You don't know what you're saying. Anyone who has ever read my posts knows that I am not a Nordicist. I don't believe Nordics spread civilization throughout the world.
