There is an interesting subtlety within most of the world religions. The sun and the 12 signs of the zodiac appear symbolically throughout world cultures. The ancient world is riddled with sun symbolism the lion seen represented all over the world the head is the sun with the mane being the rays. The cross ultimately symbolizes the four seasons and the circle representing the sun. The celtic cross, maltese cross, etc. all are symbols of the sun on the cross. The old testament story of sampson is also symbolic of the sun he is represented as a strong man and then loses his power when he gets his hair cut(rays) sampSUN. Jesus is also represented as a person with long hair, he is the one hero(the sun) and has 12 disciples(the signs of the zodiac). The sun of god was then put on the cross and symbolically died going into the winter season and symbolically resurrected when the spring began. We even take this symbolism literally in America with the one judge and 12 jurors. I think this is so obvious as a metaphorical religion for worshipping the sun it strikes me as odd that the masses take the story of jesus literally. Comments please.
