Translation of the hadith below: 1st Hadith ******** a stranger came and stayed close to the prophet... -"where are you from?" says the prophet. -"I'm berber" answered the stranger. - the prophet replied: "get away you from me!" When the foreigner left, the prophet said: "their faith does not exceed their throat" Reported by Abou Hourayra (Mousnad Ahmed). 2nd Hadith: ********** the prophet said: "those who wish to to give alms (charity) but do not find anybody except a berber, don't give it!" (Mousnad Ahmed) Hadiths found on al-islam.com

Weren't the hadiths suppose to have been written down centuries after Muhammad died?

Muhammad was illiterate. The whole box and dice, the Quran everything was written after he died. I don't share your point of view, Everyone was illiterate at the time of muhammed, even the poets were illiterate, so there is no surprise that Muhammed was a poet. But still, he was not a very good poet, the quran is the most boring book ever, very stupid, very childish, and no logic in it (I guess it's because of the bad compilation). As for the Hadith (it could be compared to the christian bible), There's a lot of truth in it, Muslims would not be muslims without the hadith... Actually, Muslims use the hadith 90% of the time.

I dont think so, Igu. eventhough I'm not a believer. Not valid comparaison, and the bible is the most illogical book I have ever read. I read it in arabic, french and english, but it didnt convince at all. Its a compilation of Jesus' miracles; I havent been there, I didnt see them, ...I reject them. !!? You know, Igu, this statement alone proves me you are a real kabyle.

Prophet Muhammad was not illiterate. According to the Quran, the first verses ever sent to Prophet Muhammad were
"Read, in the name of your Lord who createth. Who createth man from a congealed clot. Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous. Who teacheth by the pen! Teacheth man that which he knew not."
Why would the archangel Gabriel command him to "read in the name of your lord" if he was illiterate?
As for Hadith, hadith were mostly created to satisfy some random caliph's favours. Abu Hurayra, the narrator, came from Yemen in the seventh year of Hijra and converted to Islam. He stayed in the company of the Prophet Muhammed less than two years and in that short period he narrated about 5374 hadiths. Compare this with the narrations of the Prophet's life-long companions:
Umar Ibn al-Khattab, 537 hadiths
Ali Ibn Abi Talib, 536 hadiths
Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, 142 hadiths
Most of Abu Hurayra's narrated hadiths are called the "Aahad" hadiths, i.e. hadiths only witnessed by one person, this one person was Abu Hurayra himself. ( where is the rule of two witnesses for the truth, disregarded for the sake of Abu Hurayra).
Some of the Prophets companions (Sahaba) accused him of being a liar, telling lies about the prophet just to make up more hadiths and gain some status. Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, the second guided Khalifa threatened Abu Hurayra to send him to exile if he does not stop telling hadiths about Muhammed, he did stop until Umar's assassination then started again. Many of the hadiths that were narrated by Abu Hurayra contradict other hadiths, including his own narrated hadiths and other people's hadiths and contradict the Quran and contradict common sense.

And the point is what ?!? The point is the Quran was written by others pretending it to be the words of Muhammad via his divine inspiration. I would like to see the oldest Quran in existence and proof of its age. Where are the equivalent of the Dead Sea scrolls for the suras of the Quran?
