Thanks a lot for posting this. At least we women have someone to look up to. The crimes of the Christians cannot be emphasized enough. As an archaeologist and friend of paganism, I can't tolerate the fact that Christians destroyed almost everything pagan.

And of course, even if the Christians aknowledge their crimes, which were in fact the crimes of other Christians in different times and places, NOTHING will change for the better in our society or in ourselves. So, i challenge you all to tell me, what will change for the better, for the benefit of us all, if the Christians accept that the Christians who lived a 1000 years ago comited crimes against non christians? IS THIS OUR REAL PROBLEM PEOPLE??? WAKE THE F*CK UP!!!! If you have something to say, just say it, if you have something to offer, OFFER IT, for Gods sake, what is your GOD DAMN IDEOLOGY??? A rewriting of history??? A battle of historians??? TODAY, is the day, if you have something to contribute, do it NOW, its not really my FIRST PRIORITY f*cking problem, if Ypatia was murdered by a Christian mob, led by a Christian bishop or not. Yes, it is a matter of historical memory and recognition, but thats it, I M LIVING MY LIFE GOD DAMN IT, IN THE PRESENT, NOT IN THE PAST........SHOULD I SPENT MY WHOLE LIFE CHASING GHOSTS OF THE PAST? ??

Other folks who are objectively critical of Christianity and its effects on Civilization ought to read Hypatia of Alexandria, by Dzielska. I Read it maybe 8 years ago.

Satyros, dis manis to colo. I'm not one for apologies myself. But if the Germans are made to apologize ad infinitum for the deaths of millions (?) of Jews, then the RC church ought to apolgize for the deaths of tens of millions of people, Christians and non-Christians (the former being more numerous). Deo vindice.

I don't need the church to apologize for its crimes. I believe Christianity is nothing more than a sect of Judaism and that the Christians destroyed many people who could have done great things for humanity. Those of you who say that this is not the case need to read some good books that talk about the crimes committed by Christians. I am amazed at the fact that some of you guys here love ancient Greek and Roman culture and still revere Christianity. How can this be the case when the Christians wiped out everything pagan? Even the few things that have survived did so due to mere chance or because a few nice Christians like St. Photios were proud of their heritage and decided to foster it. The rest were mostly a bunch of fanatic lunatics.

The rest were mostly a bunch of fanatic lunatics. Christianity co-opted Platonism to serve as a coherent metaphysical system (which Jesus and Paul failed to provide) with some credibility. But overall, Christianity was a radical iconoclastic revolt against the Pagan world. It was as if modern British adopted Hinuism and overturned capitalism, burning corporate headquarters and so on.

Artemisia, very cool. I enjoyed your erudite post vis-a-vis Christian crimes. Try to find the book Hyapatia of Alexandria, by Dzielska. It'll get you fired up.
Greetings from New Jersey!
