It also depends on the individual and the order in Catholicism. I cannot stand the Opus Dei nor the Legionaries of Christ because of their elitism and fanaticism but I like the more humanistic view the Franciscans and particularly the Jesuits have. I think that's an important factor, yes. The Jesuits are crazy about education and they have great schools all around the world. Although they see themselves as the "warriors of the faith" and it's rather unpleasant to argue with them; I still repect their perseverance on education. Fordham University in NY is one such example.

Fordham University in NY is one such example. But at least Jesuits are not as close minded as the members of the Opus Dei. Three of my cousins became members of it and it’s tiresome to have a conversation with them. Jesuits, in my personal experience, don’t try to “save” you “spiritually” whereas Legionaries of Christ and the Opus Dei members literally harass you with salvation.

Yeah, I too like the way that the Orthodox priests aren't fanatical, and what's even more important, aren't paedophiles.

The thing is that in an environment in which “women aren’t aloud” or they simply don’t exist men start becoming perverts. Take for instance the homosexual relations in both Merchant ships and jails.

Yes, it certainly isn't for everyone. I respect those people who want to stay celibate and live in a monastery all their lives but it shouldn't be a must for everyone who wants to serve as clergy. Of couse it all goes back to Christianity's view of sex as evil and that clergy should be pure and all.. As long as they don't molest choir boys I don't care who gets laid, and who doesn't.

I dislike the arrogance found among some bishops, the fanaticism of some monks, but in my opinion the vast majority of clerics are just ordinary people under the raso. More or less true. Let me rephrase then.I despise the higher clergy. Most of them are amoralistic carrier oportunists.I can't tolerate an archibishop of Christianity spitting insults of nationalistic nature. Can't stand the arrogance.Makes me furious. The bulk of priests (i mean low in hierarchy)is healthy enough though.
