I know what it is, but lets not confuse black with Negroid. Some said Colin Powell isn't truly black based on his light skin coloration and that he must be a mulatto or quadroon, though he isn't. On the flip side, what really constitutes being mixed race? Does a person have two parents of different race to be mixed race? If not, using that logic, all people would be mixed race. Black is just a label Negroid isnt. You have to come to grips that Caucasoid negroid ect ect are real terms. They may be able to identify the racial group to which the person belongs by examining the width and height of the nose. Facial or head hair, when found with the skeleton, can also help determine race. Caucasian nose holes are triangular, Negroid's square, and Mongoloid's diamond-shaped. Negroid femur bones are also straighter than other racial groups. faculty.ncwc.edu/toconnor/425/425lect17.htm"...it is clear that race does mean different things to different people. In the context of forensic anthropology, the term race is unambiguous." - Stan Rhine, PhD medstat.med.utah.edu/kw/osteo/forensics/race.html

It depends on who you ask and in what society you're living in. Today, "black" refers mainly to people of sub-Saharan African origin, but back in medieval times, the Caucasoid Moors of North Africa were referred as "black" by Europeans since they were on average darker than most Europeans. Here in the U.S., a black person is someone of sub-Saharan African descent (West African), though many black Americans have obvious European admixture and aren't fully West African. Sub-Saharan Africans vary considerably in appearance. Contrast East Africans with West Africans, Pygmies, or Bushmen.

We must not forget that the term 'Black' does not exist in a vacuum; 'White' and 'Black' help to define one another.
When first used, the term 'White' was used to describe peoples with fair hair and skin pigmentation. This term described the Britons and Scandinavians, and was generally applied to countries north of the Alps (it was a general and flawed application). Thus, even in Poland, Italians were considered 'Black.'
Sub-saharan Africans were not even on the race radar; they were considered to be far below Europeans, so the racial pecking order didn't include contemporary non-Whites.

Of course, 'Black,' 'White,' 'Red', and 'Yellow,' are more social than scientific labels, in a constant state of flux as meanings and applications change to deal with new race relations. Now there is a 'Brown' category for South Asians and Middle Easterners, due to their immigration in large numbers to the United States, Canada, and elsewhere.
Aside from Europe's pre-war pecking order, racial terminology is most important in the United States, where Whites trace their ancestry to a dozen European countries and some slight Amerindian admixture, and Blacks are on average 1/3 Caucasian, and have Amerindian influences as well.
For Europeans, national identity remains the focal point, rather than any sense of racial unity.

I thought that 'white' was first used by Spaniards in the Americas when differentiating themselves from the Amerindians they encountered.

Blame the Caucasoid(Mediterranean) Egyptians, you do know it's a pharaonic practice. It is even called "fircooni" which is basically the same as the Arabic word for pharaoh. Women don't have to wear "beekeeper outfits" they should could cover their hair and dress properly, it's not our fault that the majority of our women don't dress like this. USA ALL THE WAY! ;D Neither do ours. Lets see if we can't bridge some cultural gaps here.

Go travel some more.. Another Somali? Hey you: I'd travel to Somalia except I wouldn't want to die. Is it a holiday destination yet? Don't fob me off with this "news" nonsense. What happens to a Somali woman who refuses to "dress properly?" Cliche? Stereotype? The News? Dig this playah: www.unicef.org/protection/index_genitalmutilation.htmlI suppose this was taken in Compton: Don't you think they'd have more fun "dressed improperly?" Who is the best female center in Somalia? Are you athletic? Then you'd understand this: www.swordmaiden.com/philosophy/

^^You dont seriously expect me to comment on that piece of shit you just wrote do you? Here goes: Yes, you win.. I lose.. Whatever floats your boat Eintstein. Win? No. Amazing how you find nothing wrong with a photo of a nude woman as a response to a woman and call yourself a Muslim, unless you don't, which still doesn't negate the fact that it doesn't take a traveler or Einstein to know what's going on here. Maybe you'll get that "existential" moment. Maybe enlightenment. Maybe you'll answer this direct question: What happens to women who don't dress properly in certain Muslim countries.? Do they get bad press? Is that what you mean by the press and stereotypes? I don't need to win. I just want to know
