there are four primary dravidian languages - malayalam, telegu, kanadiga and tamil- besides these there are these much less familiar groups like the todas - whose dialect - even though i am completely fluent in kannadiga might not comprehend very well (from a dialectical point of view) and may only discern the toda language as a drav one - the toda language ( dialectecal intermediary between tamil-kannadiga) is gonna sound preposterous - unusual! lol!
each of these marginal drav groups has its own peculiar historical, geographical and economical circumstances as are the differing physical characteristics of these dispersed peoples such as the looks of khondi vs todas.
having stated that - i don't believe that tribal groups have highly distinctve looks although the tribal ones comparatively will have some metrical distances from one to the other, otherwise dravidians represent a wide amalgam of different looking peoples just the way bengalis-banglas of the bengal - bangladesh or sinhalese lankans do.

I don’t speak South Dravidian but I’m familiar with the music and how it sounds, specifically Kannada and Tamil. One would expect Malto and Kurux to sound like Tamil, but oddly enough both languages sound distinct from each other and South Dravidian. Kurux sounds slightly like Arabic probably due to the Uvular and Glottal consonants. Malto, on the other hand sounds Latin. amazing info Ibra, you should post lots of pics of the various tribal groups especially, such as kuvi, toda, pengo, etc,. i'd like to see what these people look like. don't you have photos to post Ibra?

These are two Oraon from Bangladesh. Can you confirm? Since the site doesn’t allow remote linking, I’ll host the pictures myself.   I myself wonder what North Dravidian tribes are like, but that’s all I got. Also the nature of their language I find interesting. Fierce if you find more pictures of ND tribes such as Oraon post if you wish. confirm that the link works? yes it does - are all those people oraons? about that hypothetical scenario that you mentioned - well i wouldn't know as i'm not an academic or linguistic scholar - although besides the Brahui's distinctive dravidian affinity south asia including adjacent parts of central asia has many many of these smaller relictual communities - ethnic groups that speak distinctive languages; for example the primitive bondo tribals of orissa, whose language isn't sanskritic or dravidian derived - it must be austro-asiatic?

nice pics btw, how would these people compare to santalis? santalis - austro asiatic, must be darker - much more pronounced indo melanids with even more pronounced indo melanid facial features - not like native ausies or papuans, melanesians - just the melanid south asian local variety.
