Any film or series about Rome that´s not shot in Italy with locals is going to look weird anyway. It´s possibly an american revenge for Spaghetti westerns! LOL!

In the behind the scences, I thought I heard the director bragging about how it was shot in Italy and how they used real Italians from Rome.

I agree!
Although I admit the "cock shot" in Alexander was hilarious , it was so dark and short that it is almost like it never existed

I hope HBO comes up with a half-decent show. Alexander was not only inaccurate, it was an artistic failure as well. I thought TRoy was pathetic until I watched Alexander, which is beyond pathetic.

The cast is mainly all either Nordic(Nordid) & Atlanto-Med.
The show is not Historically accurate, just takes place in historical times, and it takes some great liberities with the important characters..and mainly focus' way to much on sex . The Main cast is British while secondary and background actors are Italians and so are the artists, designers, builders ect as its made in Italy. Its joint BBC and HBO production.
They have a Black couple selling white slaves in one episode which I found hilarious.Theirs lots of modern tones and PC elements..Its basically a softcore Soup Opera, but the program as a whole is watchable.
i think the British along with modern cutlure in general have some strange fetish with Rome and Greece, especially their Sexual pratices,it wasnt really dwelled upon back then,it was just natural and part of every day life, but not that important.
A young Val Kilmer couldve played a wonderful Alexander!

I think the Croatian actor Goran Visnjic would have made for a better choice to play Alexander. At least he's Balkan and Dinaromorphic.

Wasnt he blond?
Goran is very tall, and Alexander was rather short If I recall correctly, people who would meet Alexander for the first time often thought Hephaestion was Alexander, because his companion was more physically imposing than him.

Don't know the details of his personal appearance, but anything's better than a bleached blond Colin Farrell. *shudder*
