According to "Y-chromosomal DNA haplogroups and their implications for the dual origins of the Koreans" the Japanese have about 1/3 of YAP+ while in other Mongoloid groups, this is less than 4%, so it's reasonable to assume that they got it from Ainu-like people, who have it in very high frequency.

I'm not saying differently... in fact that's exactly what I'm saying. Genetics doesn't support Brace's theories. It actually supports the general consensus, though for a while, when the ancestral Asian form wasn't found in the Andamese yet, people were scratching their heads. By Ainu-like, what do you mean? Do negritos count in as well? since D/M174 is present from south to north. Negritos are very different than Ainu. The Japanese obviously are descended partially from Ainu-like people not Negrito-like people. Actually, the Negritos should not be considered as typical of the D-haplogroup people, since they have undergone modification in their insular environments which favor size reduction.
