maciek.piranho.de/nation.htmThis site list national stereotypes. Unfortunately it is in German so if you don't know this language I can translate it for you. Do you think that these stereotypes reflect the reality? Do you know any stereotypes that should be added to this list? If you spent some time abroad you can share your personal experiences with us and comment on other nationalities

Joke about russians and americans: "One day americans arrived on moon and discovered that russians are painting moon in red colour. Americans started to worry and called to president Bush: "what shall we do?" Bush answered: "Nothing!" After one week americans called from the moon again: "Russians have painted already half of the moon. What shall we do?" Bush: "Nothing!" After one week americans called again:"Russians have painted almost all moon in red colour. What shall we do?" Bush:"Wait till they will finish. Then we will write Coca-Cola!" "

Henerte, Could you please translate this part for me; It is about the french stereotype ...the french stereotype written by germans ;D :

I used Babelfish (babelfish.altavista.com) to translate the page, and this is how the section about the French (roughly) reads in English:
Typically French: - superficialness - unpunctuality - can excellently the whole afternoon long eat - the drahtige Vitalitaet novels - holds gladly praise speeches and is gladly satirisch, however actually makes themselves from both nothing - Frenchmen are gladly and make gladly different the public discussion or rather the the subject of a joke - are vain on their kings - the ease of the Frenchman - is gladly free, ungezwungen and ohen obligations - a young Frenchman is taken away, duselig, brainless, schusselig; older is pleasant (quotation Kant?) - French carelessness: condemn only, afterwards the investigation start and the guillotinierten for innocent explain - attaches when working importance on organization - around vocational to get ahead, personal relationship is useful - hierarchies count more than in in France Germany. Important decisions are more highly made a few stages than with us - further differences to the German: ' branch ' is called in France: independent subsidiary. ' Concept ' is in German a clear idea, in the French however means it: Idea collection. One should know, in order to prevent misunderstandings - with a charming smile nearly everything is permitted (e.g. with table)

Many things are true! From polish people for example I dont like the fact they dont tell you NO plain end simple, they just go around it and want you to understand it, as I ve experienced it.
But then there are people who are not easy to classify like myself: I m italian but I like punctuality, hardworker but I dont live to work, I like long summer hollidays, I m very attracted by females, I m rational, practical, i plan ahead, I love waking up late, friendly, individualist, not particularly generous, but fair, that s why I take revenge when treated unfairly, I like following rules but i dont like authority (i thinkjust who doesnt follow rules need), I dont like compromises, when I say NO it NO if you try to convince me I repeat it NO , sorry dont waste time i dont change mind, I like jokes, I m not altruist at all, generous only with old friends...etc..

Dumped by a Polish girl who wanted to make clear that "it was not you, it was her, and blah blah blah"?

The art of saying no without using this word (you are like pushing someone off what he wants)

hehe...they call it "push-off-logy" like anthropology or biology. The art of saying no without using this word (you are like pushing someone off what he wants) I call it bullshittology, and if it s a man doing it, it s lack of balls! I always look at the face of the interested person and say NO! By the way, I wasnt talking just about quitting a relationship, I meant in general.

National stereotypes... Hmm. I'm not depressed, I've never wanted to commit suicide. I'm not a pessimist, I don't like to whine and complain. I don't believe in the Sumerian connection. Can I still be Hungarian?
