You might think this is weird, but one summer I was working as a door to door salesman and once we went to this little town up north in cottage country...i remember this trainee white guy was tagging along with me that day to basically see me in action and learn the tricks of the trade and shit...so this place was reaaaally suspect, with alot of shirtless guys sitting in the porch (this always means trouble, i dont trust shirtless guys at all). As i was approaching this one house, the guy sicked his dog at us...the dog immediately ran for me even though the other guy was standing closer. I had to hop a fence and fell face first into the asphalt of the parking lot with 3 barking dogs at the other side of the fence all growling at me and not giving my white partner any looks.
we were both resolved those dogs were racist mofos, probably raised by their owners to not trust any dark human.
What do you guys think?

Sure, he could have been trained to sick any non-white person, but then again the dog may not have liked the way you smelled. No offense. Dogs are just sensitive to scent.

There's been enmity between bigoted cats and prejudiced dogs for years. Luckily, modern kittens and puppies are being raised together by progressive pet-owners, so the ancient hatred is becoming a thing of the past. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

My husky dog, when she was puppy was afraid of dark colored dogs. I do not know why. It was embarassing. She would hide and scream when she saw dark haired dog. Now she is OK.

when me and my brother used to do a paper round at vish's corner shop. there was this little white kid with his little mutt ;D and whenever we'd go past that kid. his dog would start growling and barking at us like mad, as if we killed someone. used to always get me and my brother, no one else. im sure the dog would've got vish and his wife. but they stayed in the shop.
way i see it. dogs, and cats. can see if someone is dark or light (whether they can see colors or not, they can certainly see the different tones). just because they can't speak english, or do math. they still have great sensory processing skills (visual/audiotory/smell/etc.), atleast as good as humans. so they no doubt can spot the differences between some black and someone white. however, i they're not racist in the conscious sense that humans are, it's more a case of 'foreiginer'/'friend', and picking up on the owners attitudes (even if the owner isn't overtly racist, if the owner avoids socializing with blacks, then the dog is not going to be comfortable around blacks).
there's also another side to this. cats and dogs are pretty good at picking up people's fears/emotions. if you're scared of dogs, or think/expect that they're gonna bark at you, then they probably will. so part of it is understanding how to work with such animals in general i think. e.g. a black guy that is a dog lover, with all the experience etc. will be much more likely to get any dog to be on his side, but cats and dogs can be trained to simply hate a particular type of people/smell/etc.

an interesting topic.
in brasil (the last country to abolish slavery - it took place in 1888) they bred an ultra aggresive dog (fila) to chase fugitive slaves. this dog is so violent it has been been not allowed to stay in many countries...
they were bred to chase black slaves (either through the smell or the visual contact).
therefore i wouldnt find it surprising at all if this dog (common here) can be particularly aggressive towards blacks in general...

My guess is that such dogs usually have been trained to be 'racist.'
