If you have been told you are Black Dutch or part Black Dutch, you must find out what the name of the German, Dutch or Flemish immigrant was (if there was one), where he or she came from, what their religion was, if any, etc., before you can figure out to which group they belonged.

I've heard many "Black Dutch" people were actually remnants of mixed-race Native Americans who tried to pass as white by saying they were Black Dutch, Black Irish, or any other similar terms.

did ya read the full website? i believe it talked a little about that at the end. if not, then ya, black dutch included "closeted" Indians also. such an umbrella term!
