It's nonsense to call someone who is as white as snow 'black' because they happen to have 1/16 west African admixture, the main groups in the USA who are advocating this one drop rule nonsense these days are African American and Indian groups who want to inflate their numbers so they can increase their political powerbase and thus increase affirmative action quotas. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) It is nonsense and a view adopted by extremists. I also agree with you that it is seems very popular amongst marginalized groups in the US to promote their agendas. Things is, whilst 'one-drop' counted, wasn't it also the case that Negroids were not accepted as fully human and were not allowed to integrate? So if the one-drop rule should still apply, then the other social laws that accompany it must do too. Another point concerning this thread: Americans seem to have this romanticised view of their ancestry and will enlist where they think all their ancestry comes from and break it down accordingly,. i.e. 1/4 this, 1/3 that etc. From this side of the world its seems rather bizarre. If I moved to another country or continent, then my children would obviously be reminded of their roots and culture. After their generation I am sure it would be replaced with typical American culture - i.e. loud and exaggerated expressions.
