I know Cajuns are mostly French, but what else is in their background? I think I've seen some who looked like they were partially Amerindian. Maybe a French, Amerindian, and Spanish mix?

I may be wrong, but I think they're mainly French and Amerind. Some have Negroid, too.

It's funny... I've once read about the Cajun KKK and that many of them were really racist. I may be wrong, but I think they're mainly French and Amerind. Some have Negroid, too.

A curious thing: Cajun and Zydeco music sound really really similar to some music styles from North Eastern Brazil. The rhythms are the same and the accordion is also the main instrument. It's crazy. You are right, murphee; Cajuns are mainly french with a minor NA (amerind) influence. I listened to some cajun songs, really majic. I liked a lot their western french accent. There are some Cajuns with English ancestry also. One of the greatest Cajun accordionists was Nathan Abshire, certainly not a French surname.
