The Western civilisation is currently the top force on our planet Earth. The anglosaxon countries of America, Canada, Britain, Australia, the english-speaking Europe, as well as the expansion of English, the free market etc in the rest of the world as well, prove this.
But what is your personal opinion of our world as it is now?

Satyros,
The strength of the countries you mention, is not in their Anglical history, but rather in their diversity.
It is the inclusion, of peoples from all backgrounds, that has made these English speaking countries desirable places to live.
The power of English comes from that it doesn't belong to any one ethnic group. Even the language itself, is comprised of additions from many sources, including people who have conquered England, like the French, people England has conquered, like the Kelts, and even people who have been enslaved, like African Americans.
And while History rolls on, the ethnic make up of English speakers contantly changes. The numers of new English speakers in India indicates that indeed, increasingly even a smaller minority of the languages speakers will actually be ethnically English.
So I'm a little worried that your post, while it invites many to conclude that because English is so popular, that we live on an "Anglo" planet, I would argue it is not so. English is merely a tool that many people have chosen to conduct their business with.
(...And might I add that you speak it very well.)

I wouldnt have it any other way. I prefer an English speaking Anglo world to say... a Chinese dominated world (The only country today with a chance at having huge world influence besides the Anglo world is China.
France, Germany, Spain, Russia, Japa, Latin America... they're powerless)
