It seems like many many mixed people are half Northern European and half something else. Has anyone else noticed this?

Northern European blood is far-flung thanks to the colonial era. More opportunity to mix with other peoples.

Northern Europeans like themselves and everyone else. At least most of them do. Swedes and other Scandinavians strike me as the least racist people on the planet. They're very open to other peoples and cultures and it makes me sad when some nuthead accuses them of racism when some immigrant doesn't get a job. I for one make a difference between racism and xenophobia. Also, problems with some groups of immigrants (young men from the Middle East and Muslims in general) tend to cast a shadow on the rest of us, but that doesn't make every Swede a racist. Plenty of them still see that it's a tiny minority that causes problems for everyone else. Of course there are racists here as well, but overall, the USA is much more obsessed with race and race-mixing than any Scandinavian country. Perhaps it has to do with the Nordic sense of personal freedom - no one should butt in on whom you date or mate with, that should be your choice and only yours. I think it's like this in most of Western Europe.
