When did it originate and what is its meaning?
Also, is it used when referring to Ashkenazic Jews? Or Sephardic Jews too?

It's because Jewish immigrants to the USA signed their names with circles rather than X's ( ie, crosses ). Circle = Kikel --> Kike

What an informative website. Think of it as a kind of psychological vaccination to develop your emotional immunity.

"Hooknose Jews- In recognition of a common Hebrew facial characteristic."
See, this is what I am talking about. Here is a slur that is very racist and insulting and wrong, however its obviously true.
Many Jews do have hebrew characteristics, or semitic, or whatever you call them.
You know what I'm talking about.
Its like calling Chinese people "thin eyed"..
Its insulting, yet factually correct.

If ashkenazic jews weren't of at least some middle eastern origin, then why did people even view them as such?
Ashkenazim have always been labeled by anti-semitic europeans as "swarty, hook nosed, Hebs or Yids".
Where did this stereotype come from if there was no original truth to it?

^I'm Sephardic, which means I'm more Jewish/Hebrew than you. ;D I'm kidding of course. Yes, Ashkenazi Jews are of Middle Eastern origin, and have retained most of their original character. But there is no denying that Sephardim are more "Middle Eastern" than Ashkenazi Jews.

It is actually Yiddish for self-hating Jew.
And by the way, many Jews DO NOT have hooked noses. The number only falls at about 12%...more than the Anglo-Saxon average, but not in any way common.
