www.vdare.com/roberts/hate.htmExcerpt: "Federalizing crimes is a Republican taboo, because it encroaches on the rights of states, clogs federal courts and conflicts with the courts’ traditional functions. And it can result in double jeopardy and duplicate punishments. "These sound arguments are now being abandoned as Republican Senator Orrin Hatch joins with Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy to expand the federal government’s power to prosecute 'hate-crimes.'”<br>

if its murder its murder, regardless of race or reason, if its harrasment its harassment, there is no point to having set aside "hate crimes"
And some of these ahte crimes are nothing but the expression of freedom of speech , vulagar as it may be.

Burden of proof will make any hate-crimes legislation rarely applicable.
The legislation amounts to nothing more then ehansed punishments for existing crimes. Extra-punishment for petty motivation, such as racism, etc.
...It won't affect me, because I never even jaywalk. And when I do, it's rarely while hating black people, etc.
