I've already posted my pics at skadi, but I wanted to start off this forum I was previously classified as a Borreby/Mediterranean mix. I'm from Montenegro, it seems this Cro-Magnid/Neolithic mixture is quite common there. community.webshots.com/s/image3/6/3/82/92960382QWPFcf_ph.jpg[/img] I measured with crude tools, but my Cranial Index appears to be 82.5 which falls into the brachycephal dimensions. I have grey/blue eyes and brown-reddish hair and beard. I weight over 105kg at 180cm height. ( I'm not fat ) Contrary to what the picture looks like, I'm very pale/pink skinned. This all indicates Upper Palaeolithic ancestry and I appear to fully belong to what Coon wrote about Montenegro. ( Useful links for uploading your photos: www.webshots.com www.villagephotos.com )

By the way, I'm in the process of analyzing Coon's supplement data. That way, anyone who knows their measurements can find out which racial type they are more similar too in a more "scientific" manner.

Hey Pontikos! And Hello AWAR! AWAR referred me to this site so I wanted to come and check it out. As for Coon, unfortunately Coon is only for male measurements isn't it? There's no way I could actually do it on myself. Hmm, any suggestions? And I'll join you with the classification later on, I'll post my picture once again. It's always cool to get a lot of ideas See you around guys.

AWAR referred me to this site so I wanted to come and check it out. Hi rusalka and welcome to Dodona! It's really sad that most of traditional physical anthropology was so much centered on males of a certain age group. One of my half-baked projects is to create a gallery of racial types that will show people of both genders, children, adults and seniors from different racial groups. I do have some comparative data on men and women for Greeks, so I could in principle use them to derive "equivalent" measurements for women, which will allow you to compare yourself against the people in Coon's database. It's not a perfect technique, but it's a good start.

Okay now that I know everyone is after my mellon.. Seriously though, I did try to do the measuring a couple of days ago, and it came out pretty weird. I guess my crude instrument was a little too crude. Any suggestions how I can measure? I know that my nose is "leptorrhine" but blunt tipped. That's about it for my use of jargon I'm afraid. We still can't post photos to this site? (why am I asking so many questions)

One idea on how to measure is using the "folded aluminium" method. Just fold a length of aluminium, make the tips sharp and bend it until it fits. Try it a few times to make sure that it doesn't snap out of position when you remove it. Then measure with a ruler. For the "big" measurements, like head length/breadth/bizygomatic you may want to use the "sliding cabinet door" method - self-explanatory.

Don't listen to Dienekes, I'm still recovering from injuries I got the last time I listened to his advice The poor squirrels never knew what hit 'em One of the female "Nordish" posters at Skadi asked me for advice on how to measure herself. I gave her the alpha version of the method, the "bent wire" method; you got the beta version, the "folded aluminium" one. I never heard from her since, but I'm glad that at least you're alive
