I mentioned before that George Kastrioti's origin are from a region of northern Albania that had the name Castrum(latin 'castle"), during Byzantine times it became Castrion. beign John was a ruler in northern Albania it is more then likley that he came from there, today Albs from Kastrat(modern name) have the last name Kastriot, 'i' is usually added to the end of Alb names, like mine for instance is from a region of northwest Greece called Pilkat(though now I think its Plikat), my last name Pilkati. It gets often mistaken as Italian.

Generally I would avoid posts like yous as I it would feel like I was lowering myself. But this statement is wrong. It was used among Albanian Janissaries in the Ottoman empire and among northern Albs in the Shkodra region, even Montenegrins use it, along with Croats. In the past it was known as the Dalmatika.

Ha, so the fact that fustanellas are depicted in ancient Dyrrhachion and Apollonia proves that they are Albanian? I guess that if something is found in ancient Greek cities, it proves its barbarian origins

The first evidence of the Fustanella is found in Slovenia 5th century BC. They are not found in Dyrrachium until 2nd century AD, deep in the Roman era. (Ilir, those in Vlore and Korce dont say BC but AD, only the one in Slovenia says BC) Infact, it is very popular with the Herzegovacs, who share a culture similar to Albanians (very mountaneous, and share in the Blood feud culture). These are not Illyrian soldiers. They are Roman legionaries. Wearing a dress as part of a military costume is not new, Irish wear a kilt. its for comfort as pants are not the freest clotehs for moving around. However the fustanella, in its form, is different. Thats what the arguement is, now, based on.

Georgios Kastriotis was a Greek, and Albanians are not from the Caucasus. I wonder if you would call Kastrioti greek if he never came back from Turkey like Sinan pasha [ftp]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinan_Pasha[/ftp]. This is the accurate portrait of an old Skenderbeg He is described to have been tall and fair like many north albanian mountaineers

I am very sorry Some of u probably think that most Albanians in Albania and even in other places are mostly muslim and that's why u don't like us, but the truth is that muslims in Albania are no more, there are twice more christians and not to mention atheists in there than there are muslims!!! easy easy man, no thats not true. check encarta encyclopedia, or check CIA world fact book. In Kosovo, more than 80% are muslims, in Albanian, 60%. O ju besimtar! I guess u are a tosk right?
