I'm from Portugal, and I've visited Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
Spain is great, so is France (avoid Marseille, it looks like North Africa!!!), Brussels sucks (the worst capital in Western Europe, even tiny Lusembourg is better) but Gent and Bruges made the trip worth while. Amsterdam was ok, I guess, and Switzerland was a very beautiful country with a very rude people (at least from my experience)... I almost had to fight with a stupid Swiss who was messing with one of my friends, and you almost have to pay them if you need directions. If the country wasn't so beautiful, I would never return to the place...
I am planning on visiting (in the next couple of years) the following countries: Italy, Greece (I would go there this year if it weren't for the Olympics), Slovenia, Croatia, and probably Austria and Hungary. I also intend to visit Egypt and Turkey (Turkey is reputed to have some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean, and it is probably not as ruined by mass tourism as Greece is).

I haven't been to very many: Gran Canaria (spanish Island), Jamaica, Wales, Scotland....going to Egypt in less than 7 weeks...can't wait. Want to go to Italy (Rome), Hawaii, India and some parts of Canada and America at some point...possibly in that order.

OK--I'll post in a non-controversial thread! I'm of course American--though not the Walmart shopping, McDonald's eating type that many of you Euro-folk might picture in your minds when you think "American"! LOL... I've visited: Canada, England, Wales, Scotland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany and Italy. I haven't been to Europe since I was in High School but I would love to return now that I have traced familial lines of mine back to small towns and villages in the Old World. I need to save up some $$$!

When I think of an American, it normally has nothing to do with McDonalds... Instead I always envisage someone who is intelligent, dresses reasonably smart, is either very religious or isnt at all, and has a keen interest in politics whether young or old. But that's probably because that's the only kind of American I've come across.

France England Italy Germany Spain Belgium Netherlands Egypt Thailland Vietnam
I love english people, they are calm, clever, very devoted and courteous...they are so different from the french. For summer hollidays, i think the best place to go is Spain on the costa brava for sea sun and freedom
