Description of classic Indids (Gracilindid) after Christian Vogel:Aus Christian Vogel, Menschliche Stammesgeschichte - Populationsdifferenzierung, in Biologie in Stichworten, V Humanbiologie, Kiel 1974.(rough translation): Medium height, in the South smaller. Slender to gracile body with gracile bones structure, tendency towards voluptuous body build in the female sex and strong sexual dimorphism. Head shape is long-narrow and rather high, face high-oval, vaulted forehead. Narrow noses with straight profile, in the South broader noses and especially in females more often concave. Small pointed chin, but again in the South weaker (in the South Weddoid influence stronger). Almond shaped eyes. Body hair moderate, head hair abundant and able to grow long, simple to wavy form, black, forelock border goes on the side more into the face, forehead. Skin: Olive-brown to dark brown. Eyes dark brown. All features are weaker in the lower castes and the South, with broader noses and darker skin there. Original German text, a picture and other racial type descriptions can be found on Skadi, I scanned the some sides of the book: forum.skadi.net/showthread.php?t=42805

Some examples, as it is written they show a great variation: On the lighter and more Europid side: www.kamat.com/kalranga/faces3/4539.jpgMedium to dark: www.global-campaign.org/clientfiles/Indian-woman.jpgDark end of the variation, fluent border into Indomelanids: Indobrachid influenced, partly brachycephalised, but still:

Agrippa can you post some male examples? They are relatively progressive, though not in same way as f.e. Pamirid-Iranid-Nordindid types (like East Iran, South Afghanistan, Kashmir etc.). Gracilindids are quite common in most of India, but especially in the big river areas (not just the specialisation is somewhat similar to other Mediterranoids, but also the distribution is - farmers and fishers especially along river valleys and coasts. Male examples are harder to find, probably I find some.

i've seen and met north indian ones, some are diasopra types that came out of the caribbean they are extremely gracile - almost fragile like - otherwise there certainly is variability and that gracil indid type must be pretty much prevalent just about everywhere in the continent - often coming out of mixed subtype complexes (fluid borders) as you've identified.

the first, second and fourth examples certainly look very balanced - and healthy and they have lots of appeal and allure. the other two i'm not certain if they are south indians.

Agrippa what constitutes progressive markers on pamirids, iranids, nord indids, indo melanids and gracil indids? what are you looking for primarily?

Because you asked some predominantely (!) Gracilindid individuals: Rajasthan: Lives in Malaysia, height about 168 cm: Some Sadhus which look pred. Gracilindid, though many show Nordindid (or less likely, weaker, Indobrachid, Weddoid) influences, most show quite good the gracile-leptomorphic build and bone structure: magicplanet.org/catalog/images/india_sadhu.jpgwww.edwebproject.org/rajasthan/pics/andy/jaisalmer.sadhu.jpgA very Europid, Nordindid influenced one: With Indomelanid-Weddoid influence: Schizothyme-Leptosomics obviously tend to be more often in such areas, European yoga teacher which seems to be Nordomediterranid/Atlantid (Mediterranid-Nordid) for comparison: www.ojaiyoga.org/images/sadhu.jpg
