HI all,
Cocacola, The history you posted of Punjabi is not quite accurate as it defines and categorizes peoples and castes of Punjab as if everything can be pigeonholed. It can't be. And there is no clear designation as to which caste decsened from which. The references made primarily from the early 20th century British millitary officers is needless to say unacademic and very faulted, just like it has been everywhere else in the World.
Sublime, Almost all the admixture of later invaders such as Turks, Mongols, Persian, Arab and Afghan would primarl be in the Pakistani Punjab. Since these later guys were muslims and hardly hardly anyreverse conversion from these groups to say sikhism and hinduism ever took place. If intermarriage occured almost invariably the progeny would also be muslim. So perhaps that might account for Indian and Pakistani Punjabi phenotypic difference.
Lastly, the Punjabi ethnicity in Pakistan isnt as straightforward and easy. Since it is the most populous province of Pakistan, many people from other provinces migrate and settle there. Furthermore, if some one says I am from Lahore or pindi or faisalabad, doesnot make him punjabi automatically. If prodded on most will say I am not Punjabi in the sense that this is my historic heritage. Many will say I am punjabi by virtue of participation in the culture but my actual heritage is Turk, Afghan, Arab, Persian, Balochi, U.P etc....So there is distinction between whom we consider punjabi in historic sense and who is punjabi in the ephemeral sense. Even my own cousins who have lived for years and years in Lahore millitary cantonemet say I am from Lahore and my domiscile is of Punjab.
And very nice photos, and if the photos are of just random Pakistani models they are just that: Pakistani models. Not necessarily Punjabi.

OmerKhan, thanks for your reply and I certainly agree with everything that you said. I tried to make sure the pictures I posted were of Punjabi people but you're right people move in and out of there all the time. If you do find information on Punjabi people ie. genetics or something feel free to post them.
