www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=17747public protest in Washington, DC, on April 5, 2005 highlighted the current (ongoing, for centuries) plight of black Mauritanians enslaved by Arab masters. The final two decades of the 20th century, moreover, witnessed a jihad genocide, including mass enslavement, perpetrated by the Arab Muslim Khartoum government against black Christians and animists in the Southern Sudan, and the same government’s continued massacres and enslavement of Animist-Muslim blacks in Darfur. These tragic contemporary phenomena reflect the brutal living legacy of jihad slavery.

Lots of Ethiopian girls are enslaved in homes as servants and then usually murdered by jealous Persian wives when caught sleeping with the husband.

^True, most Sudanese Arabs I've seen are to a very large extent sub-Saharan in ancestry. It's just that they identify with their Arab ancestry by speaking Arabic and considering themselves Arabs.
BTW, on the subject of Arab enslavement of blacks, how extensive was this in the Maghreb, Libya, and Egypt? I've heard that with the exception of the Tuareg, Berbers participated far less in the enslavement of blacks, whereas Arabs did it to a much greater extent. Is this true?

The main "souk" of slaves were in Marrakech, Algiers, Tripoli and cairo, All these towns were controlled and inhabitated by Arabs, Coastal Berbers did not participate in the Black slave trade (nor in the european slave trade). What's funny, is to see black arabs (of slave descent) enslaving european christians: (Algiers, at the time of the turkish domination).

^So would it be fair to say that North African Arabs often have considerable black admixture whereas many Berber groups have less?

What's funny, is to see black arabs (of slave descent) enslaving european christians: (Algiers, at the time of the turkish domination). Black "Arabs" aren't of slave descent, can you prove this? Black arabs is a term that covers many populations, sudanese f.e are not of slave descent, but those who live in Algiers are, I have two friends who have recent black ancestry (they are from algiers, my natal town) and they say their ancestors were slaves at the time of turks. There are entire families who are black (not mixed) from algiers they also say that their ancestors were slaves, now that was just an example, if you think these guys came directly from niger to algiers with an aeroplane and did not mix at all during their travel (a distance of 4000 km) that's your problem. Anyway that was my personal exprience, but there are tons of books, tons of magazines that have spoken about Black arabs of slave descent, ancient and modern historians have written about them, and these black arabs say it, hope you are not lazy to read them, I don't have the time nor the energy to collect the sources I have read, however there are online articles you can consult: www.jeuneafrique.com/jeune_afrique/article_jeune_afrique.asp?art_cle=LIN11074etreneisinu0
