The History of the Peloponnesian War www.earth-history.com/Greece/greece-thucydides-book%206.htmThe Sicanians appear to have been the next settlers, although they pretend to have been the first of all and aborigines; but the facts show that they were Iberians, driven by the Ligurians from the river Sicanus in Iberia. Thucydides-431 BCE

<<Tucydides (6.2) writes that, after the Cyclopes and Laestrygones, the Sicani were the next to settle in Italy>> You left out that very important part! So According to him the Cyclopes and Giant Cannibals where the first settlers before the Sicanians, also his Iberia stretched well all the way into Gaul.. The evidence is that Sicily was already inhabited 500,000 years ago by humans, and records show that the Sicanians where settled since atleast 10,000 B.C(Obviously though much earlier) and already building megalithic temples and Pyramids . Also tests show that the Sicanians,Elymians or Sicels are all related, with very little if any differences. And they seem to be proto-Greek's like the Cretans. *The Elymians according to some researchers are said to be Ligurians,so that wouldnt make much sense for them to live so close once again, but this time on an Island.
