Tough call between good wine and a good Sam Adams beer for me. I'm also a tremendous fan of a drink that's sort of a specialty of one of the local bars. It's called a monkeyboy. They're served in pitchers, and here's what's in it: Gin, vodka, rum, and various flavors of punch depending on which flavor you want: raspberry, strawberry, orange, apple, etc. My recommendation is if you have this in a pitcher, one's plenty, two's the max, otherwise..bad things might happen .

Good vodka. Grey Goose is probably my favorite brand. I keep hearing about this Russian import called Russian Standard. It's supposed to be really good.
Arak (similar to ouzo, which is also good) is awesome, too. I just haven't had enough of it to go into detail.
The monkeyboy drink sounds like a crazy mixture. How's it taste?

I love all sorts of beverages, so no wonder the list of my favourite alcoholic beverages is long too...
Red wine: aglianico, primitivo, classic Bordeaux and Bourgogne White wine: viognier, sauvignon blanc Sparkling wine: Spanish cava Dessert: Passito di Pantelleria, oloroso sherry, madeira Beer: Czech lager, Weissbier Whisky: Talisker Cognac/Brandy: couldn't stand until a while ago, but I'm developing a taste now, Renault is good Digestive: Grappa, Calvados Shots: Dark rhum & pear juice in two separate classes Coctail: Sidecar Long Drink: G&T
I drink beer and red wine a couple of times a week with meals, and have developed a taste for sherry lately, but other beverages are "treats".

I like the Czech recipes as well, budweiser, czechvar various other pilsners. It's cheap and good. I also like Belgian Beer, Hoegaarden white especially. Japanese soporo is also another import beer I like. Though If I drink beer I usually support the local brewery, since no matter what brew of beer it is, it always tastes better when tended to in smaller batches. www.bigrockbeer.com/ They have a great beer brewed with malted wheat called grasshoper, I was first introduced to it by my grandfather, a wheat farmer of course! I tried my hand at brewing some at home, but it didn't come out as I hoped it would. Though, with the left over supplies I decided to see If mead was all it was cracked up to be, and it actually came out really good. It's very original tasting. I plan on brewing some more in the near future. I am not very impressed by any of the various brandies. I especially loathe "fruit" brandies like calvados. I mostly favor single malt scotch, but I appreciate good canadian whiskey as well. The americans and irish can keep their whiskey for themselves. As for "digestive" (binge) drinks, I'd go for Jagermeister. The only alchol that I would refuse to drink is Vodka. I don't understand how anyone in their right mind could say they like drinking vodka.

My grannies for instance won't touch any other alcoholic drinks, but have a class of cognac with coffee in special occasions. I personally couldn't understand what all the fuss about cognac was until last Winter. I was served a class after a dinner and "saw light". So maybe I'm becoming an old lady.

Surprisingly, you can barely taste the massive amounts of alcohol that are in it. The punch is strong, plus the large number of ice cubes in the pitcher help to dilute the alcohol as well. But don't be fooled, they can still mess your day up ;D.

As far as my favorite types of wine go, I prefer red wine over white. I'd have to go with Barberra (don't know if it's spelled that way) or Chianti. Actually, a mix of the two together is also quite good. If I go with white wine, I'll drink Sauvignon Blanc.
I can't stand vodka either. I have to mix it with something, like a screwdriver or something along those lines. Besides Sam Adams beer, I like a good Heineken or Yuengling as well.

I don't know which type it was, but my friend gave me some red wine which was quite good. I notice that the drunkenness I feel from wine is different from that of beer or vodka. It's more emotional and less festive. Does anyone else have the same experience?

Hoegaarden white especially. I'm a big fan of the Hoegaarden too, perfect after sport (it's very refreshing). Chzech beers as the Pilsner Urquell are excellent, and Slovak beers, although little known, are maybe the best. I like all Pils however and light beers, can't stand the Guinness and all the English ale. Apart from beer, that is a great love, I like the Bowmore and similar Scottish whisky. In hot wheater a mojito could be fine, but the ratio alcohol price is a no no. Usually, I drink nothing else but the aforementioned. Hate wine, and drink it only when there's nothing else available (usually at weddings) or when I cross the line after which you can drink everything. I use it for cooking though. Josh: I read somewhere that what makes you high is the same molecule in any beverage, so there can be no difference whatsoever in the way wine, beer or others make you feel. I got drunk with any kind of beverage and personally think the differences are in speed allowed (vodka or whisky can be devastating, getting really drunk with beer is hard, unless you have unlimited and quick source near) and the stomach effect (flavoured beverages as keglevich are the ones that leave the worse memories, imo. I gave up on them year ago).
