are these accurate representants of jakunin types? both the man and the girl are jakunin (i think) did sexual selection lead to these sharper features developing or did evolution or ainu admixture contribute? this is one of the reasons i think japanese/europid mixes look more caucasoid than chinese/europid.

Though they show influence they are not that typical in my opinion. The Jakunin type/Yakonids are an offshot of Sinids mostly with various other influences and a deviation specialisation. They are probably a social elite type. Shichinosuke Nakamura is mostly Yakonid: F.e. in this series many actors and actresses were Yakonid: www.imdb.com/title/tt0068815/Yakonids with certain Europiform tendencies and very progressive features seem to have been quite common in the highest elite, especially of the military and aristocracy: Kodama Gentaro (1852-1905) Japanese soldier and statesman, responsible for Japanese victory in Manchuria during Russo-Japanese War 1904-5. Heihachiro Togo, Japanese naval commander-in-chief, Russo-Japanese War, 1904-5. Japanese general in a magazine from 1937: Typical for Yakonids are the close set eyes with varying degrees of the epicanthus, but usually present and strong, a long, more prominent (for Mongolids) and most of the time straight or convex nose and narrow nose. A long-narrow face and longer head than Satsumids. "Normal", less Europid looking Yakonids were the beauty ideal in classic Japanese art and the similarities to Sinids are obvious:

<<a very dark jakunin! it seems that many celebrities in japan are jakunin... kyushu? i would have thought that japanese to the north of the archipelago would have had the finest features.....though this could be wrong! maybe its due to admixture from polynesian stock....or maybe just a mutation lol

Jakunin's were very popular in film in the past. Especially since the standard of what was beautiful at the time, such as actress Yoshiko Kuga. Who has noble features and is of the nobility: img76.exs.cx/img76/230/Ayako.jpgJakunins to me seem to be a mix. There is some kind of northern element which must explain why they have such a nose. Maybe, a mix of Korean, some northern element, and a few other things. I thought about Ainu, but it seems to me Ainu features tend to be very broad and they do not have broad features. Although some Ainu may explain some of the sharpness. There seems to be some kind of Caucasian-like look there, very interesting none the less. I have noticed several types of Jakunin, some are more sharp featured, some are a more smoother features, but all seem to have a rather elongated face.

Have you ever asked yourself what type of nose "Caucasoids" have?

I guess everything is relative, but to me Asians tend to have smaller noses, even snubbish I guess. Whenever I see a longer nose on an Asian, I start to wonder perhaps this is due to a colder climate so the nose it a bit larger to warm up the air.
I also wonder, is there a hypothetical Proto-Caucasian-Asian phenotype? I guess these two populations broke off from each other at some point, so I wonder what the original looked like.

Actually snub noses are for cold air,not long ones. Flat and snub nosed is not the same. Flat is more important for extreme cold than short-snubby. Snub noses are rather related to a certain body type and older Cromagnoid forms than cold per se. Just compare the extreme cold types like Eskimid (Inuits), Tungid (Mongols) and Sibirids (f.e. Evenks). In this thread this is really an extreme form of flat+rounded nose and extreme Mongolid-cold adapted features though: dodona.proboards35.com/index.cgi?board=physanth&action=display&thread=1137594763Interesting comments Attis.

I remember watching a Japanese TV program. I had no idea what it was about. I saw a guy being interviewed and I was like wow he looks like a nobleman. I asked my friend who spoke Japanese what the show was about and she said, oh he is a nobleman who was showing of his family's artifacts. I know one when I see one, although I may lack the technical terms to describe what I am seeing.
