Hopper is a favorite of mine also. Strange, he gives to me too much a desperation vibe to match with your (apparent to me, but I may be wrong) optimism. I often come off as optimistic, but I classify myself as a realist who often does get pessimistic thoughts about the state of the world. Hopper mainly appeals to me because of his masterful composition, technique and realistic capturing of loneliness.
